Practice plugs such as these can be divisive--they aren't really representative of the tackle you'd throw at a fish, so there are people who say it's not a good way to develop skills. While I see their point, I have personally found them to be quite useful for getting to grips with a baitcaster. When you're first learning, it's hard to understand everything you're doing wrong since there are so many different variables to take into account. These plugs help eliminate or smooth out a lot of those variable, because they're so aerodynamic and evenly balanced. This allows you do focus on the most rudimentary elements of the cast so that when you start throwing actual lures, you're able to more easily identify how factors like wind and air resistance come into play. While I'm happy enough with this particular set of practice plugs, I do wish the plugs themselves were labeled with their weights. That being said, I do own a sharpie so not a huge deal. Durability wise, they're holding up alright for now but the eyes are rubber so they're bound to tear before too too long.

These have been great, they are an inexpensive and fun product to help learn casting. They aren't extremely heavy so they are great for teaching kids. They will hold up to almost anything because they're silicone. We haven't gotten to bring them to water yet, but the kids are learning to cast in the grass so they are prepared for our camping trip this summer. They work excellent and i feel better doing this way than waiting until we are there. This way we all get to spend more time fishing and enjoying ourselves.
