  • FORIOT’s TXS0108E based 8-channel level shifter modules perform as expected, allowing 8 inputs/outputs to be shifted between two voltage levels bidirectionally. The chip has two ports “A” and “B” with a voltage setting Vcc pin for each port. Port A can have its voltage high level (Vcca) set between 1.4V and 3.6V, and port B can have its voltage high level (Vccb) set between 1.65V and 5.5V. A typical use would be to set the Vcca to 3.3V and Vccb to 5V. This would allow inputs and outputs between two microprocessors or sensors with different voltage high levels to communicate without damaging the low voltage unit. While this device is designed for open-drain applications, the device can also translate push-pull CMOS logic outputs.
  • If the OE pin is low, the TXS0108E’s ports are tri-stated and will not pass data. This pin must be high to pass data. Its intended use is to allow a controlled startup of the ports. The pin should be kept low until both Vcca and Vccb are powered up. The datasheet shows this pin tied to a pulldown resistor and an additional microprocessor GPIO pin set as an output on the Vcca side. A discrete pulldown resistor is not installed on the module board, but most microprocessor GPIO pins have a pulldown option. The module board does appear to have the Vcca and Vccb bypass capacitors installed.
  • The module board is laid out cleanly and has two mounting screw holes that can be used with either a #6 or M3 screw. The module also comes with 2.54mm spaced male header pins that can be soldered onto the board. It is a useful voltage level shifter module for projects which use components with differing voltage level requirements.

Shipping = AAA+ Order was shipped same day, within hours of payment, arrived the next day before 5.Order of 20 individual antistatic packaged BSS138K 4 channel logic level shifting modules, packed in larger zip lockbag, packed in a larger sealed bag, packed in a larger bubble envelope. Each comes with 2 × male header pins not soldered on(I think all of us who tinker, hate pre-soldered pins 😅)Functions as desired, unsure of the frequency limit yet as I don't have anything hi frequency at 3v3, but I will create a circuit to test and report any issues. At present, the 2khz its being used for works perfect.Comments had me feeling low expectations, and was very happy to be wrong. All items were in the order, order shipped and arrived expediently, and all modules come clearly fresh from assembly as they still have frame parts that need to be broken off. I was more than happy with this purchase as even for custom circuit design, this was cheaper than buying a strip of the bss138's on their own, each included the necessary resistors and caps, and the IC's on boards are easily desoldered for placement on one's own designs. 100% satisfied!

Just drop them into your prototype and forget them. I've run signals as fast as 1 mhz through them with no issues.

I use them with ESP32 AND ESP8266 to boost the data signal from 3.3 to 5 volts for LED strips. They do a great job.
