About this item

  • LIGHT POLLUTION ELIMINATED: Each Night Sky filter delivers incredible starlight definition and true color neutrality. Each Night Sky filter is weather sealed in our rugged X4 traction frame and features an incredibly durable MRC16 and nanotec coatings for easy and fast cleaning.
  • RUGGED WEATHER-SEALED TRACTION FRAME: Built for harsh environments, our industry first traction frame completes the weather sealing on your lens to protect against dust, moisture and other outdoor elements. The rugged traction frame also allows a strong grip for removal and attachment.
  • BUILT FOR OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHERS: Artificial light pollution ranges between 570 to 610 nanometers on the visible light spectrum. Artificial light pollution can reduce starlight definition by up to 50%. The orange color cast decreases contrast between the stars and the space behind them, making an the otherwise black backdrop of space look orangish.
  • ELIMINATES LIGHT POLLUTION NON-DESTRUCTIVELY: Eliminating light pollution is essential to capturing beautiful Night Sky images, however finding a location to shoot without light pollution can be incredibly difficult if not impossible depending on where you’re shooting.
  • 25 YEARS SUPPORT: Backed by our 25 Year Ironclad Guarantee, each Night Sky filter is designed to last decades of continual use in the field.

It’s difficult to get high resolution and clear vision while shooting at night. A Night Sky filter works wonders by making the backdrop of space appear more black, making each individual star stand out more, significantly increasing starlight definition. Our ultra-slim circular filter frames are designed to eliminate vignetting on wide-angle full-frame setups. HOW TO CAPTURE BRIGHTER STARLIGHT: Sky darkness and light pollution are going to be the two most essential factors which determine how bright your starlight will be. When the moon is at it’s brightest phase or strong light pollution exists, starlight can appear up to 50% less bright. When moon brightness is at it’s highest level and there’s a high level of light pollution, starlight can appear 100% less bright. Little to no light pollution and a dark moon phase combined increases starlight brightness significantly. A Night Sky filter works wonders by making the backdrop of space appear more black, making each individual star stand out more, significantly increasing starlight definition. We stand behind all our products 100%. Each and every filter is guaranteed to be free of craftsmanship defects for a period of 25 years. I have no words to express how amazing this filter is.I've tested several Light Pollution Filters before but this goes from seeing the milky way for the 1st time in the optimal conditions (new moon phase, dark night, a site with low light pollution, and the results were just amazing).Since I tried to not believe any sort of marketing thing, I had to go out and put it on test myself. The detailed settings were using the new Sony 20mm 1.8 G lensf1.8/ 10s / ISO 640Thank you very much for the quality of this product.

Haven’t used it but already own and adore their dark polarizer and 6 stop ND. These are fantastic in your hands with very grippy, but thin rims. I have arthritis in my hands and so far, I have never had a filter or (hefty) adapter ring stick and I haven’t fumbled one off a cliff yet. I anticipate I will be happy with this one too, going on a test run down US395 over the next two weeks. I love my Singh Ray, but love, love Breakthrough Photography’s products. The ND and CPL produce beautiful, rich and balanced color. The warranty (25 years!) registration process is painless, they provide education for their products and beautiful packaging

The filter helps deal with the funny color cast that light pollution causes leaving a nicer quality of color to the photo. I’d recommend this filter to anyone who does night sky shooting in areas affected by light pollution which is just about everywhere these days.

I have tried my Night Sky filter on a couple of occasions and was pleased to find out the color cast that had been present in previous attempts at shots of the milky way has been largely reduced. I can't say it's been entirely eliminated until I take further shots but I am very happy with the results that I've been able to achieve. This has been a great addition to my filter set.

I bought this filter directly from the Breakthrough site and when it popped up on my suggested purchase list here, figured I'd leave a review. It's a great filter for helping rid the sky of the ambient orange light, which will help the stars pop more in your photos. It doesn't make more stars visible in my experience, but will give you more freedom to edit in post production for more dramatic night sky shots.
