Mounted with ease, and puts off steady correct voltage. It's been some time and it still works... Savings from OEM.

My 2007 John Deere LA130 decided it wouldn't start one day after cutting the grass. Engine just wouldn't turn over. Put a small charger on the battery and after about 45 minutes tried again and it started right up. While batteries don't always stand up like they used to, this one was only 14 months old and should have lasted longer. Checked voltage at the battery with the engine running and it was only 12.2 volts. (Should be between 13 and 14 volts.) So problem appeared to be either the Alternator / Magneto or Voltage Regulator. Replacing the Alternator / Magneto would require removing the cover from the engine. Voltage Regulator was mounted on outside of engine with 1 small bolt and 2 plug in wires. Alternator / Magneto (not sure which my engine has) were in the $100+ range. Got the Voltage Regulator for under $20. Try the easy one first. Replaced Voltage Regular (5 minutes), check voltage with engine running, 13+ volts. Problem solved. Will this Voltage Regulator last 17 years like the original. Probably not. But I can replace it at least 4 times for what they want for the OEM unit and still save money. (Should probably get a spare for when this one quits but if I did that, this one would probably last longer than the mower. -Grin- )
