Using a 14" wok, this burner provides more heat than I can use. The flames are not towering, but the heat is ferocious. I use a ball valve to modulate the gas and rarely have it more than 1/3 open unless there is a lot of material in the wok and it starts to cool down. At that point, having the extra power is very welcome but I never leave it like that long.It's made well. The pipe thread seemed ever so slightly loose compared to standard pipe fittings but not to the extent that I couldn't get a tight seal.The flame is all blue, so the nozzles are correctly made. Overall, I'm very happy that I did not get a larger one, since I would probably get more flame up around the handle. For a 14" wok I don't think you will want a larger flame circle.
