Went dull, edge very obviously flattened, after only trimming 5 pots. They seem easy to sharpen, but the metal or edge seems very soft.

These are wonderful. A friend in the studio had some of these style, and I had to give it a try. Makes very crisp and clean trimming cuts. I like these way better than the old style trimming tools I've used for over 30 years.

I originally loved these. Sharp and useful at a good price.Now? I'm super hesitant to use them after using one to trim last week. A piece of metal, super thin and about half an inch long, peeled off of the side of one of the 90 degree angled tools. If I didn't see it, it had the potential to cause injury or damage the pot I was trimming.I'm going to see if they can be sharpened/refined, otherwise I will be tossing these.

I quickly realized that these tools must be sharpened to effectively trim pots. I have a diamond disc I put on my wheel, and sharpened the straight edges. The tools then work amazingly well. And, the sharp edge lasts for a long time! So, with that, these are an incredible deal!

What a great set of tools for the price of one. These tools have made trimming fun again for me. There is a tool for every trimming possibility. Of course I find myself using two primary tools but I find specific uses for almost every tool. The steel is mild but keeps a pretty good edge. The first thing I did was to harden each tool with a torch and quench. A file doesn't necessarily skate of the tools but are certainly harder and keep a more consistent edge. I keep a small file in my jar and give a quick sharpen every five uses or so and they perform very well. My favorite tool is the left angled square and I use it every day. Aside from a needle and a rib, this set has everything you need to throw and trim with. Very happy and would have paid more for the set.
