Put this on a Mk4 Jetta Wagon after I noticed a small tear in the outer boot which was flinging grease. Took me a while to figure out how to get the old joint off the axle which was holding the old boot on - hit it with a hammer.

I ordered a set to replace a friend's 2003 Toyota Camry outer joint boots. They fit well and the included cv joint grease is plenty for the joint. To gain access to the outer joint boot, I had to remove the cv joint, including the inner boot. I didn't replace the inner boot though because it was in good shape, but it looked different than this Empi 86-2375-D CV Joint Boot, so not sure if it would have fit. However, they fit well as replacement for the outer boots and that's all we needed. Not sure how long they'll last but they appear to be well made and even include a snap ring for the bearing. I would buy them again if or when one is needed and I recommend them.

I purchased this to replace a damaged CV joint boot on a 2006 Jetta (passenger side, outer). After reading several articles and videos on this matter, I learned how to replace the boot by removing only the axle bolt (besides the wheel bolts), and turning the steering wheel almost all the way to the right. And instead of hammering the CV joint to release it from the axle, I used a small socket, the existing axle bolt and a cheap electric impact driver. Then I invested all that time I saved to completely disassemble (take pictures first!) and clean the CV joint with mineral spirits. Put everything back, and squeezed the grease (not pictured, but included) in the joint. Installed the boot on the axle side, squeezed the remainder of the grease in there, put a small ring found previously on the axle and then the CV joint. It required me to hit the CV joint against the wheel hub a couple of times to get past the axle lock ring (no room for a hammer). The included boot clamps are on the narrow side, but they are good enough to get the job done. No problems installing both. Then I put the CV joint back on the wheel hub, torqued the -new- axle bolt, installed the wheel, lowered the car and applied the final turn on the bolt. The boot was a perfect fit. No issues this far.
