I thought it was great until it caught and twisted irreparably out of shape. It appears that the steel is very soft.

I didn't use this parting tool until the 30-day return guarantee had expired. That was a mistake. It was dull from the moment I tried to use it. So dull, in fact, that it was unusable. Bad quality control on the part of the vendor. Very disappointing.

I like long heavy shafts on my turning tools. This gives me better control and are less fatigueing. The narrow kerf is also handy in producing bowls from boards.Another handy feature of the long heavy handled tools is that if the bowl isn't going well, I can turn the tool around and beat the bowl blank into submission.

As others have stated, the tool I received appears to be used and was extremely dull out of the box. The tool is otherwise well built but needed sharpening upon arrival.

After using this tool has become very weak and dangerous. It has to much flex between the cutter and the shaft where it’s bolted. I was parting and it flexed and bent flinging the tool out of my hands. No bueno!!!

I have several of this manufacturers tools. This is the first one that has disapointed me. Doesn't cut worth crap.First time I tried using it I stopped the lathe cause I thought I had the lathe in reverse (that's how bad it was cutting)But nope it was spinning the right way, felt like I was trying to cut with a sharp stick. I tried sharpening it, was a little better but still sucked.You are better off getting a traditional parting tool or one from EZ.I wound up making my own parting tool and it works 100 times better than this one.No point in returning it so I'll just write it off as my one bad experience with this manufacturer.

All the other carbide tools that I bought from this supplier was ready to use as soon as it was mounted in a handlethis had sharp edges that had to be filed away and the bit Is BLUNT will not cut now I have to sharpen it first

Worked out great. I turned a handle for it. Has a good weight to it. I don't have a deep to sharpen lathe tools so this carbide parting tool is perfect. Just change the blade when it gets dull.

This is a very high quality carbide tool at a reasonable price. It came with the wrench for replacing the carbide tip when it becomes necessary (unlikely in my lifetime) and a nice brass ferrule to fit on my home made handle. The nicely finished bar is square to hold flat on the tool rest but the part inserted in the handle is 1/2" diameter round for easy fitting/ fixing with epoxy. I've used this tool several times on mahogany, oak, and zebrawood and it made nice, smooth, fine cuts.
