I work for a John Deere dealership. We have problems with glow plug’s going bad. I was able to successfully extract all six glow plugs within 10 minutes. The head was already off the engine but this can be done with the head still on the engine. I highly recommend this kit.

The quality of metal is pretty bad or at least not high quality. I have been using drill bits all my life.The slim part of drill bit tip broke inside the cylinder head while I was trying to extract the stuck glow plug. That broken tip end up costing me $8000 for the parts and labor as end up replace the cylinder head and related parts.

Unlike other reviews the drill bits included in the kit work fine. Taps the glow plugs but never removes it. Tried running engine before attempting removal. No luck. Did not work to remove plugs.

This kit will work but there are a couple issues that I ran into. First like a few of us had happen when we got the box from Amazon the case came open and all of it was all over the box. There was one small drill bit missing, must of feel out of the shipping box and I had to reassemble the tap extension also cause the small pieces on the inside came out even the small wire that holds them in. Next there should be sheet or label the tools, I had to guess what size the step bits were so I started out with the smaller one and saw that I needed to go bigger.. The step bit worked fine just take your time and keep it straight then work getting the old threads out before you remove the lower section and re tap the old threads to get all of the old ones out, I found a small pick tool and air gun worked. The small drills bit need to be longer, I could just barley get down into the glow plug the way my head is. Luckily the glow plug came out when I tapped the lower section and came right out on the tap.

Blow mold case was open upon arrival and pieces were scattered around inside shipping box. No big deal. I am a professional Master Certified Automotive Technician specializing in Mercedes Benz vehicles including Sprinters. I had a glow plug break in cyl#2 on an old OM647 Sprinter. We were in a spot, so I ordered this kit because of price and next day availability. Upon inspection, I immediately noticed that the puller mandrels provided were 6 MM X 1.0 thread, but the tap meant for running down the glow plug tube was 1/4-28 NF SAE thread....?!? I had already tapped the broken tube to 6.0 MM X 1.0 the day before, so I attempted to extract the tube with the provided mandrel, which pulled right out of the tube due to insufficient depth of thread (bite). I them manufactured my own puller mandrel out of two socket head cap screws-one 8 MM X 1.25 and the other 1/4"-28 NF. I cut the 1/4 inch screen's head off, pressed it into the hex socket head on the 8 MM screw, and welded it together (shown). I then ran the 1/4 tap into the tube as far as possible. This accomplished the task, albeit the tube still broke into 3 pieces, so I had the repeat the procedure a couple of times.It worked for me, but I have 35+ years of automotive and fabrication experience. Most of the pieces in the kit are useless (for my Mercedes application), and I don't recommend a DIY type buys this kit expecting it to work. Spend more money for a better, application specific kit, and you will likely have better results.

Kit worked exactly as advertised. I was able to remove the glow plug without removing the cylinder head. Great value!
