I love the assortment of colors of this book cloth, each shade comes with two sheets and there is some nice variety in color. The cloth itself has a nice tooth, just a bit of texture and a slight sheen. I'm guessing the material is synthetic based on appearance and the lack of notation otherwise, so know that may affect what surface treatments you can do. I'm using this for binding sketchbooks so it's great for my purposes.This seems like a good inexpensive set to play with if you are just getting into bookbinding - but the smaller pre-cut size does mean you will be a bit limited for size or else need to be a bit creative with binding larger tomes. If you're adding hardcovers to existing paperbacks it's probably enough for most mass-market paperback sizes. For re-binding a hardcover the sheets may be too small in some cases. It's a good idea to measure what you need to be sure this will be enough to cover your project. Since there are two sheets of each color you can also experiment with wrapping the exterior covers separately and having the hinge in an alternative material, or using them with an open spine coptic binding.

I never leave reviews, but I feel like I should. This product would be best for non-serious project. The fabric frays VERY easily, even with a very sharp knife. It made binding a cover exceedingly challenging, and annoying.

I'm recently getting into book binding/re-binding. While the product itself is nice quality and sturdy, it wasn't large enough for my first project (six of crows). There wasn't enough overhang for it. I also attempted to iron-on vinyl to the cover, but it didn't adhere well. Granted, it could have been the vinyl I used, or the heat setting wasn't perfect. However, I'm not going to judge too harshly since it is a good product, and I simply didn't measure twice. This would've worked well for a smaller book. As far as vinyl adhesion, I will have to experiment. Overall, I recommend, even as a beginner.
