I had high hopes for this mandrel set when I opened the package. The grind finish is beautiful. I popped the MT2 to ER32 adapter in my spindle and the exterior surfaces were running true within less than 0.001in TIR which is mostly in my spindle. I then installed the collet, collet nut, and arbor. TIR (total indicator runout) was 0.020in, nowhere good enough to do precision pen work. I tried rotating the collet in the adapter and the best I could get was 0.015in TIR. I then tried some other precision ER16 collets I had on hand in the adapter and the best I could get was .010in TIR. It is a shame because everything else on this set is great. I will keep the set and regrind the collet socket here in the shop.The other issue I have is the information given in the listing. It does NOT come with a spanner wrench. What they are referring to is the HEX ALLEN Wrench for the bit trimmer set screw. Also, the listing does not specify that is MT2 and ER16. This would be good information to post since some people have small lathes with MT1 tapers in the spindle. This tool would not do them any good.
