It works as intended, and is pretty durable. My only issue is when the string got caught up in the wheel, I had to take it apart to fix it. Also, although the string is pretty strong your cat will easily chew through it, and be careful they also aren’t chewing on the metal clasp as they can break a tooth. I ended up cutting the clasp and just tying the toy to the string. Also kinda wish the string was longer. For what you pay it’s a pretty good deal, considering it comes with a few attachments.

The "reel" isn't very sturdy and the line is short. It gives the impression that it something to send a toy flying for the cat to chase. However doesn't even reach the floor from the 2nd story. I can't even dangle it for kitty to catch.

Cute idea but this item does not function as l thought it would. My cat is however, n u t s about the fish toy but itvfoes mot cast and it does not reel. Very poor quality in that respect. The string was two pieces tied together and broke in 5 minutes. I will still keep it, but woukd not recommend it if you really want to cast your cat toys.

Works great for the cat and we have fun, too.

I have two adult cats and buying toys for them was difficult. A majority of the toys I’ve bought in the past never got used or they were interested in them for a short amount of time. This, however, is the first toy I’ve bought that both my cats are interested in! They love playing with it and they even beg me to play with them. I’m super happy with this purchase!

I have to replace these ever so often and this one really has nice quality toys that attach very easily for changing out. Highly recommend and would buy again. A+++

This is a good product for the money. I’ve had several cat fishing poles before… And this one is by far the best. The pole is well made as are the toys that come with it. The cat poles I’ve bought before have been less durable and the toys that came with them fewer and poorly made. Barney, in the video, grabs and pulls like a dog. Pole has not broken and the toys are still fine. Only negative is the string could be longer.Would recommend.

I knew before purchasing this that my cat liked to chew on string, but I had played with her and her sister with this toy extensively earlier in the day for the first time and she had chewed on it without it showing signs of fraying, so I trusted it was safe. I own other cat wands with string that has not come apart after years of her playing with and chewing on them, so from that, I did not expect at all that it would fray so easily after just a few hours.I woke up to the rod and the toy, but no string (see second photo). She had consumed the whole thing within ~5 hours. I rushed to the animal ER and told the vet tech the string was from a cat toy and she shook her head in disbelief; you wouldn't put small parts in a baby toy because they're a choking hazard, so why would you make string toys for cats that are so easy to chew through and consume? After spending six hours at the vet, they said if it had gotten past her stomach and into her intestines, an $8000 surgery would be the only way to get it out. Cats die from ingesting string every year as it can wrap around their organs during the digestion process, and there are plenty of horror stories online describing awful pet deaths from ingesting foreign bodies. One expensive ultrasound later (photo shows where they shaved her for it), they couldn't find the string in her digestive tract, but said she had an inflamed colon. I later found the string balled up in her litter box waste, where she'd miraculously passed the whole thing -- all 50" of string. She was incredibly, *incredibly* lucky to have survived eating that amount of string and not suffered from any complications beyond some inflammation. So no, I wouldn't recommend this toy for any cat owner, and no animal should be left unsupervised with it. I suppose part of this was my fault in that I shouldn't have allowed any string toys in my home at all just to be safe, but I learned an expensive lesson with this $14 toy. It cost me a sick day, hours of worry, a $200 office visit fee, and an $800 ultrasound fee. Don't do what I did; do not buy this toy (or probably any pet toy from Amazon, for that matter).
