How to Replace the Coolant Water Outlet?

Step 1: Wait for the engine to return to its normal temperature before proceeding. This can enable you to have a safe access to the hood compartment.

Step 2: Once the engine has cooled down, you must disconnect the negative cable from the battery terminal.

Step 3: You may now open the hood of your vehicle to gain access to the engine compartment. This is where your water outlet is located. Follow the path of the engine manifold, which begins with the radiator and coolant reservoir. Once you see the radiator hose, locate the housing on its top area. This part is the actual water outlet.

Step 4: Before removing the old water outlet, you must first drain the coolant from the radiator to prevent any spills or leakage in the replacement process. Put a drain pan underneath to catch the coolant.

Step 5: You must also put some clean rags in the areas between the water pipes and belts to help the drain pan for possible coolant spills upon removal of the old water outlet.

Step 6: You may now proceed to the removal. Loosen and remove the bolts that secure your water outlet to the engine manifold with the help of a wrench and screwdriver.

Step 7: Take out the gasket of your old water outlet because it needs to be replaced as well. Locate it on the outlet housing, which is the bowed pipe attached to the intake manifold.

Step 8: Remove the bolts from the housing, and pull it out. You may now see the gasket in between the water outlet housing and the intake manifold. Take this off to be replaced with a new one.

Step 9: You must also be careful with the other components that need to be removed such as the hoses and pipes. Store them in a secure area together with their fasteners. Take note of how they are installed in the first place so that it will be easier for you to return them afterwards.

Step 10: You may now install your new water outlet on top of the radiator hose. Make sure to fasten the bolts securely to your new water outlet.

Step 11: Rein stall the other components that you have removed in reverse, starting with the outlet gasket. Ensure that all the fasteners that you stored earlier are also secured on each component.

Step 12: Remove the rags and drain pan that you used to catch excess coolant. Refill the reservoir with new coolant.

Step 13: Check the efficiency of your new water outlet by starting the engine and inspecting for any leaks.

Only issue was had wrong sensor, used the 1 out of what I removed. I was told sensor with silver pins goes in other place ones with gold pins go in that unit. Don't know if that is fact, but old with gold worked.

The problem here is that this design isn't robust enough to do the job long term. This will last a few years and then fail again, requiring replacement. At least its cheap.
