These things work in some of the most extreme conditions. I have extras just incase I have to connect devices in the field.

First, “Bidi” in fiber optic parlance generally refers to bidirectional communication over a single strand (like the single fiber strand running from an ISP). These transceiver modules in this kit are not “Bidi” in that sense, as these transceivers a cable with two fiber strands. Fiber optic technologies and capabilities are varied, so please do your own research on SMF, MMF, and “Bidi” to suit your use/application.As far as these perform for as typical MMF converters/xcvr modules…My test setup:Laptop 1: i5-1235U with USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) TB4 capability.Laptop 2: i3-8145U with USB-C 3.0 (aka 3.1 Gen 1) (5 Gbps) PD capability.Control:2.5 Gbps USB-C adapters directly connected through 10ft. Cat6 cable, an RJ45 coupler, and a 3 inch Cat6 jumper (Manual IP assigned, Auto-MDIX, Firewalls disabled). Iperf 3.1.3 results = 2.14 Gbps throughput on multiple tests…i.e. confirmed faster than these.Test:After the direct wire test, I immediately replaced the RJ45 coupler with these converters/modules (and a 3 meter OM3 fiber jumper) and re-ran the speed test: ~950Mbps. These claim 1.25 Gbps so they seem to have a rather large 24% overhead. But to be fair, I’ve had the fortune to test a handful of media converters and SFP modules at this point (Thanks Vine!) and have noted that: 1. The 1.25 Gbps claim on these converters/modules generally and consistently perform close to 950Mbps. 2. I can’t discern performance between the converters and the modules as I haven’t yet acquired/tested a combination that exceeds ~950Mbps.Also, the SFP modules are hot-pluggable in my Cisco SG350-28-K9 V01 switch (which has two 1Gbps SFP ports). So my opinion is that this is a good converter/module kit…and that 1Gbps is still plenty adequate for most residential, and many commercial (endpoint/access tier) applications…especially if you need an extended (>100m/300ft) or EMI impervious link.

Worked exactly as expected and promised. I can confirm stable signal transmission over about 330 meters. Setup was straightforward, and the units delivered gigabit speeds without issue. Used the pair for extending network connections over fiber beween buildings.

This product has been a fantastic addition to my home lab. As someone who had no prior experience with fiber networking, I was a bit intimidated at first. However, this setup made everything incredibly simple. The installation was seamless—just plug in and go! The included dual transceivers made connecting the multi-mode fiber cables straightforward, and I had everything up and running without any issues. The range is great, and I love how it allows me to integrate fiber optic connections into my network with ease. If you're looking to explore fiber networking or expand your current setup, this is a great way to get started.[Disclaimer: This review is for "2Pack BiDi Gigabit Multi-Mode Fiber Ethernet Media Converters, with 2Pack Dual SFP LC Transceiver Module 850nm 1.25Gbps, 1000Base-SX to 10/100/1000Base-TX, LC Connector, RJ45 Interface MMF, Up to 550m (Include MultiMode LC Dual Core Port)". I needed this to supply an IP address to a 100G switch that didn't have a standard ethernet port. I had no issues and it's working well for me. I used the SFP port to connect to a breakout cable on the switch and sent the ethernet cable to an ethernet switch which is connected to my router.Everything is working great and I'm very happy!5 out of 5 stars.

Great thing about these converters is that they are sturdy and super easy to setup. Literally just plug and play. This was no different. I connected with my wifi7 router, works fine.

These are ok fiber media converters. I would have liked a cord longer than 2 ft without a power brick dangling in the middle of it, but it is what it is.I had no issue with the actual operation of these fiber media converters, they were stable and worked fine. The item description describes these as bidi/bidirectional, which would use a single fiber for bidirectional traffic using different light spectrums for each direction, they could be with the right transceiver, but the dualport transceivers are not bidi/simplex, they are duplex transceivers which use a different fiber for each direction. They seem to offer a singleport variation that is bidi, but the dualport variations are not bidi if that is something you wanted/needed.

I’m a bit of a hardware fanatic and like to see how things are built, not just function, so here is a photo of the interior. All the logic is a single ASIC with Realtek markings. It does appear to have isolation magnetics on the copper side which is nice to see. It’s hard to imagine having any problems with this, either compatibility or longevity and it is wrapped in a steel case. This device is effectively an Ethernet bridge, which is useful as the twisted pair side can participate in autonegotiation and bridge to the fixed rate optical side.I’ve got to subtract one star for the AC adapters, they feel feather weight and that gives me a little concern for the electrical construction. Could easily replace with another 5v power supply if you have issues but I’d like to see manufacturers put more effort and quality into things like this for the customer.
