Long before iceboxes became a common household item, frugal homemakers everywhere stored their bread and pastries in a pie safe. The decorative punched-tin panels allowed ventilation while protecting baked goods. It also added a little spice to the kitchens decor. You can buy pre-punched tin panels or use the instructions we provide to punch your own, or you can opt to use wood panels or any combination of both. Finished Dimensions Height: 59 inches (147.5 cm) Width: 20 inches (50 cm) Depth: 14 inches (35 cm) Wood and Supplies needed: We used pine, fir plywood, and pine cove molding, but you can use a wood of your choice. A full materials and supplies list is included with the plan. Tools needed: Table saw, clamps, drill, router, planer, miter saw, and common hand tools.
