These racks are exactly what I needed to hold my sit on top kayak. I am a retired 70 year old woman and I had no issues with installing the racks in my garage on a particle board wall.

Bad design flaw. When mounted flush against a wall the pads for the kayak support are squished against the wall. When you adjust the supports, the padding gets scraped off.
