The compressor is typically engine driven via the accessory belt, and a clutch on the compressor is used to engage and disengage the compressor. Hybrid vehicles are typically equipped with an electric motor driven compressor. The compressor is lubricated by refrigerant oil. This original equipment A/C compressor has been manufactured to fit your GM vehicle, providing the same performance, durability, and service life you expect from General Motors.

was a bolt on install and same exact part as original. (no adjustments needed) install went well and this is by FAR the most quiet compressor I have ever had on my K1500. Used Delphi in the past since that is OE too but this part by far is much more quiet, even after running for months, and still works great. only been about 8 months but so far so good ! as with ALL products .....time will tell the full story.....(just my opinion)

I installed this compressor in July 2015 and it is still working great. The key to getting a long life and top performance from any AC compressor install:1. Oil balance the system. Put in the same amount of correct pag oil into the component that was removed. Drain any oil from the new compressor as they tend to have a full oil charge. Tool much oil will prevent adequate cooling2. Keep the lines plugged when open, Keep all dirt debris away from open lines/fittings3. Replace the orfice tube (if equipped) and the accumulator whenever replacing the compressor. If the compressor was burnt up, check lines for debris and flush using an approved ac flush solvent. Failure to remove debris from lines will cause early failure of new compressor4. It is always a good practice to replace the shrader valves at the service ports due to their tendency to stick open after manifold couplers have been removed. Learned this the hard way5. Pull a deep vacuum using a two stage vacuum pump for at least 45 minutes. Check for leaks.6. Provide an accurate charge using an accurate scale to measure the amount of refrigerant that is being charged into the system.7. It is best to charge system as a "gas" while under vacuum to prevent the possibility of liquid refrigerant entering the ac compressor and damaging the reed valves.8. Manually turn the compressor shaft by hand or using required tool at least 10 turns to force out any liquid refrigerant that might have settled into the compressor. This is especially important if you charged the system as a liquid instead of a gas.Hope this helps someoneUpdate: August 13,2023.. AC compressor still working flawless and producing ice cold air after 8 years of service. Be sure to use Blue Nylog, (avilable on Amazon), on all o rings to ensure they stay soft and pliable. This is key to ensuring a long, leak free installation. Refrigeration Technologies RT201B Nylog Gasket/Thread Sealant,

great compressor! its cheap and works great. I saw other reviews that said it is noisy but i can only hear it slighly while under the hood, and i personally do not drive from under the hood, but rather inside with the windows up and the ac on.

My only concern was that when I installed this unit, the space between the clutch pully and the front plate was so close it ribbed and made a sliding sound as the compressor engaged and was continuos. The compressor itself is a bit noisy, but it works fine. I have purchased several of these from the dealer and this was the first time I purchased through Amazon, because of the price. I am not so sure I will purchase another, since this compressor did have some quality issues. Was packed a little unprotected from the shipper and I noticed the boxes were pretty banged up. Only time will tell, the last compressor I had in my truck lasted exactly 11 years. Remarkable for an A/C Delco. We will have to wait and see how long this one lasts. I plan on keeping the truck so if it last 5 years I will consider it a success.
