- GM should sell the sensor alone by itself. Like others, I just need the black sensor from the end of the housing. It fixed the starting problem on a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado.To remove the new sensor, the key has to be in the "on" position, so to remove the new sensor from the new housing, after you take the two screws out, use a large screwdriver to turn the switch like you would if it had a key cylinder in it. The sensor will then come off of the new housing.

Fits and works but there’s no internal parts for the steering wheel lock like an original housing.

If you own a 2005-2010 Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon or Hummer H3, You've probably ran into the Passlock failure that makes you wait 10 min. to start your truck. This solves it!You don't need the whole thing, only the sensor on the end. Problem is, they don't sell just the sensor, so you have to buy the whole piece and just take off the sensor. I find that completely ridiculous. Buy a nearly $100 part for the $8 sensor... but I digress..It's a super easy fix, took about 10 minutes to complete, and theres a ton of videos online on how to do it. Once complete, my 07 H3 starts every time, and I've even tried to make it fail... starts every time. I can't believe I put up with this madness for so long.Now you just have to decide if the cost outwights the frustration of being randomly stranded for 10 minutes at a time.

I would recommend going on YouTube to install, but once installed and programmed, trucks starts like new again

Like most other people I only used the passlock switch. Quick, easy fix. No issues so far with lock outs. My only issue is with GM. They really should sell just the passlock switch. What a waste of materials and resources to buy the metal housing that most don't need.

I just used the sensor off the cylinder. Take the sensor off, put some dielectric grease on the wires to prevent moisture. Install in your steering column. Only need the new sensor. Then you need to re-train your security system on your Truck. Mine is a 2004 Chevy Colorado.Repeat until the truck starts.1. Try to start, leave ignition on until "lock" symbol goes away or quits flashing (about 15min?).2. Turn ignition off, then repeat step 1.Note, this process will take about 40-45minutes. If you have access to one of the Chevy/Factory diagnostic tools you can force it to relearn the sensor via the tool. After the third time, my truck started and I've not had problems with it disabling the ignition.Video's are out there with this fix. You don't need to cut any wires in your vehicle to disable the security system. Cutting wires, can cause other problems eventually too.

UPDATE [December 2020]: I have not had one start failure in the 6 months since I replaced the passcode module :-)Original Review:I ordered this for the passlock module attached to it (not sold as a replacement part). I have a 2012 Colorado that was experiencing the passlock failure where it wouldn't start for 10 minutes. The passlock module had 2 screws holding it in and then you had to turn the inside release inside the housing to pull it off. YOU WILL NOT NEED TO GET YOUR KEY/COMPUTER REPROGRAMMED just from changing the module. Once you get the new passlock module installed, you will need to do the "relearn" process. This is not like when it was failing where it would restart after 10 minutes. You will need to do the following to get your vehicle relearn the new passlock:1) Turn the key and try to start your vehicle. Either nothing will happen or it will just keep cranking.2) Release the key and leave it in the RUN position3) After 10 minutes the flashing padlock will go solid and then the light goes out4) Turn the key to the OFF position (do not remove) for at least 30 seconds5) Turn the key and try to restart againYou will need to do this at least 3 times and on the 4th it should start (I've seen a few posts where people didn't do this right and it took 5-6 times).I will update post in the future after I have some more drive time.This is an OEM recommended replacement part. For just needing the module I don't know if it matters but there are 2 part numbers Chevy recommends and there have been questions about which one is correct. Going to AC Delco's website I found from the description that one seems to be be for 4X4's and the other for non 4X4's. The one I ordered is for the non 4X4 (D1403G). Some of have suggested one is for the manual and automatic transmission respectively but their descriptions don't mention transmission type FYI.
