Part seemed to be of good quality and the fit and finish was correct. No jimming or adjustments had to be made. Works as designed so far.

I only had this happen 1 other time with an auto part purchased from Amazon. This was not an a/c delco water pump belt tensioner. The pulley on the tensioner was Chinese and red while the rest of the item was completely different not an a/c delco. I would know because I work for G.M. I also rebuilt old gm vehicles as a hobby. It must have been a glitch because as mentioned it only happened 1 other time I received Fuel injectors from Ad Autoparts on Amazon that came dirty used . They looked like they had mud in them and they were supposed to be new. With tensioners and parts of this nature always try to go with oem. If its made in China try to purchase another good reputable product. A good parts company with an excellent reputation and Quality control is Standard Motor parts. They have test facilities in Long Island city New york and use excellent materials that last long like stainless steel slides inside injectors for long life etc etc. Make sure its their Blue or red line product. Be careful what you buy today.

The tensioner assembly was a great oem replacement for my 2001 Cadillac Deville. I replaced the original unit that had a bad bearing.

Probably didn't need to replace the original AC Delco part that was on the vehicle, it lasted 150K and I am pretty sure it was still just fine, it was a general principle thing. Another fine quality replacement part.
