I had to read the instructions a bit to see how it dims. It doesn't seem to dim all the way down to off, but as you hold the button in, it does dim a few notches. If that's what you're going for, this is for you.I don't really like how the red light stays on. This would light up our room at night, and it doesn't appear that there's any way to turn this off.I ordered the black one, and it does come with a face place that you can remove the switch from if it doesn't meet your application. I'm going to find another use for this dimmer, but it isn't going to go in our bedroom light I thought it would.

This is a review for “Acegoo 12V Dimmer Switch, Push Button Red Ring Light High Side PWM RV Dimmer Switch for Motorhome Camper Van Boat Truck Cars Lighting & Led Strip Light, DC12-24V 6A Full Aluminum (Sliver)”In the world of RVs, most lighting operates on 12VDC, and modern lighting is almost exclusively LED, so this device could be handy for any dimming applications in the RV. One question I always have to answer with these types of dimmers is, “just how much dimming range will I get?”.This device is advertised as “5% to 100% dimmable”. For a PWM (pulse-width-modulator), it makes sense that the “5%” would mean it turns the lights on for 5% of the time, and off for the other 95% of the time (at the lowest setting). Of course, the PWM circuitry does this super fast so that you don’t notice any flashing, but just a general reduced brightness. But, one thing that should be noticeable electrically is a lower current draw when operating at reduced brightness. As a first guess, I would expect that if one runs it at “50% brightness”, it should take about 50% of the full-brightness current.I considered this because when I dimmed this one fully, the brightness of the light did not drop as much as I would have expected for a “5% brightness” setting. So, I hooked it up to my trusty dusty laboratory power supply with a current-draw meter. What I found is that, with three different lights with which I tested this (it happens to be a single RV taillight with Brake Light and Reverse Light that I had laying around), the difference between full brightness and minimum brightness was only about 3.5-to-1 in current. That suggest that this thing is only reducing the brightness down to about 30% of full brightness. Someone even more geeky than me could put this on an Oscilloscope to see for certain what the PWM duty cycle actually is, but I don’t have one handy. In any case, this is far less adjustment range than the 5% advertised (and less than what I wanted). If you don’t care as much about this relatively low adjustment range, then some other factors that are of interest are:The switch, even when in the OFF state, draws about 3mA, regardless of the brightness setting (that was used when it was ON) or load that is attached to it. When the indicator light on the switch is selected to be ON, it is always lighted regardless of the switch is turned ON or OFF, and this indicator light draws another 3mA. Of course anyone with a brain can understand that the indicator light will draw some power all the time, but it isn’t obvious that the switch still draws power even when the indicator light is not lit and the switch is turned off. Now, 3mA is not a lot of current, but it is the kind of thing that can still run a battery dry in storage if one does not disconnect the battery (always a good idea anyway). Just thought I’d mention that teensy current draw though. The switch does look really nice in the brushed aluminum faceplate with which it comes. Operation is simple, tap to turn on or off; press and hold when it is ON to change brightness (press-and-hold when it is OFF will toggle the indicator/backlight on the switch). It ramps all the way up and stops, or all the way down and stops, when held – no guessing when it has reached the end, and it will not reverse to the other direction while you still hold it down (some others I have do that and it is annoying….). If you release the switch part way through the dimming range, next time you press and hold it will ramp brightness in the opposite direction. Exactly how it should operate. Now, only if it would have the full advertised dimming range, it would be a nearly perfect dimming switch.

I added a 12 volt light fixture over the mirror in my RV bathroom and wanted a dimmer so I'm not blinded during late night potty breaks. This sleek and modern design was the perfect fit for my application. Easy to install and looks like a factory component in my RV. Easy to use and appears to be made of high quality materials.

Worked perfectly. Astonishing finish and quality.I like the function that you can turn on a red light for easy switch location in the dark. Easy to use. Looks water-resistant (I tested it since I'm installing it on our van conversion project in the wet bathroom). Great value for the money. You can't get any better than this.
