broke off in cylinder head, the two piece design made it hard to get out.

Bought this to use with my 65 Mustang. It’s easy to use and very accurate. Definitely a helpful test tool in my kit.

Got it on a good sale, and I’m glad I bought the more expensive one. This instrument is pretty important so it’s worth not getting a bunch of extra fittings to have a more accurate instrument. This one feels solid and sturdy, all metal, well made. Probably worth the full price.

Actron compression tester was a great value, works well and is a easy to use tester. You can't go wrong for the money.

Works exactly as expected - way better than the Harbor Freight model. I agree a carrying case/box would be ideal but for the price I'd rather have a slightly better quality tool than a carrying case. I just use the box from one of the Harbor Freight ones that took a dive on me after a couple of uses :)For a periodic/weekend mechanic I recommend this model. If you're doing automotive work on a more regular basis or for a living, then you'll definitely want to seek a better tool, but this would serve as an outstanding backup for the daily mechanic.

Compared to other, more expensive, compression gauges I have used, this is by far better quality especially the hose. Yes, the end has no flat spots for a wrench, but it seals quite well either way with just hand pressure. Even on my 30 year old engine, it gave me great results without a problem. It is worth ~$25, easy.

This compression tester is easy to use and it quickly tells you about the condition of your cylinders or the quality of your rebuild. I recently rebuilt a Honda Civic and during the compression test the readings were fine initially (above 100 psi) per cylinder (dry compression results). However after several cranks, all the readings dropped to zero, at first I thought the gauge was broken, but it was dead correct, my timing belt had slipped, resulting in the cam timing being throw off and valves being open at TDC hence the reason for zero compression. After readjusting the timing, I redid the test and got good results. The o-rings on the spark plug fitting are also extremely robust for the mechanic that has to do multiple compression tests. The quick connect/disconnect gauge also allows you to quickly make up the hose to the fitting without having to turn the gauge during the make up. Great product overall.
