I understand that firearms are a polarizing topic, but for those who choose to own them, security is non-negotiable. A pistol kept in the home for self-defense must be both secured from unauthorized access and quickly accessible in an emergency. Having to fumble with a key can cost precious seconds, and that’s where a biometric safe like this comes in.The ADIMO handgun safe uses a fingerprint scanner for fast, reliable access. The sensor reads quickly and accurately, and you can store up to 32 fingerprints—handy if trusted family members also need access. It also includes an illuminated 5-digit keypad for code entry and a pair of physical keys as a backup. I prefer the fingerprint for speed, but it's good to have multiple access options. The safe holds one full-size pistol or two compacts and is padded inside to prevent scratches. It fits easily in a drawer or nightstand and is light enough to move if needed. There’s also a silent mode if you want to open it quietly in the middle of the night. It runs on four AA batteries (not included), and the fingerprint button flashes red when they’re running low. If the batteries die completely, a built-in USB port lets you power the unit temporarily to gain access—though it doesn’t charge the batteries. This is a solid option for anyone who takes firearm security seriously while still needing fast access under stress. If you’re storing a pistol for self-defense, it should be stored loaded. In a high-pressure situation, having to rack the slide introduces the risk of short stroking—where the slide isn’t pulled fully to the rear, causing a round to jam in the ejection port. The gun won’t fire until it’s cleared and reloaded, and that delay could be life-threatening.A responsible gun owner learns how to handle firearms safely. The most important habit is keeping your finger off the trigger until the gun is on target and you’re ready to fire. Practicing these scenarios develops muscle memory, so in the heat of the moment, you can deploy the firearm quickly, safely, and without hesitation.

This is a really handy lock. Previously to this I left my firearm with a trigger lock in the case that I bought it in which was also locked. It did not make it very easily accessible if I ever needed it. Enter this little safe. It fits perfectly in my nightstand and the code and fingerprint reader are incredibly easy to set up and use. It almost never gets a bad read of my finger, and if it does it will get it for sure the next time. I am also glad that it has a silent mode that you can activate cause the beeping is very loud. The inside easily holds one large pistol and two extra magazines. I do wish you could set up more than one button code to unlock it, but the fact you can do 40 fingerprints is very good. Highly recommend this product.

Very compact handgun safe that can be accessed by key, pin code, or fingerprint. The item advertising claims it can hold 2 small hand guns, and I suppose that is possible, however, I would not want to try storing TWO of my compact hanguns and an extra magazine for each in this safe. There's just not enough space. I am content with using it for securing a single weapon with 2 extra magazines in the nightstand of my bed. Also, a word about using a fingerprint to access the safe: while this may seem an easy and quick way to get your weapon in hand (and wanting your weapon in arms reach should you need it is a legitimate need), I would not bet my life in a threatening situation on that fingerprint reader actually working to open the case when seconds count. I have had several guns safes with this feature and I only kept one of them for that feature. The others proved consistently unreliable when trying to open with the fingerprint reader. The safe I kept with that feature is in a separate part of my home where the weapons it holds are not for emergency use for imminent threats. The keypad this case has and for all the other keypad safes, all are quickly opened by use of a pin code and have never failed to open when used. These small gun safes are not completely theft proof, the metal and the design isn't that impregable. But it will keep your weapons out of the hands of anyone incapable or unwilling to take a crowbar and hacksaw to your safe. The best protection is using common sense.

I have a couple small firearms in the house, and although my children are grown, I still wanted to be able to keep them locked up safely. I thought it would be pretty cool to have a biometric print reader to open it, even with a backup key.So when I opened the box, all of the necessary items were inside, and the key was there, and it opened just fine with the key. The instructions showed to plug the included USB-C cable in to charge the box, but when I first plugged in the USB-C side, the colors on the box lit up for a split second, and never came on again. The fitting of the USB-C cable was awful too -- it didn't want to go in, and when I tried to remove it, it felt like it was going to break off. USB-C is bidirectional and should fit in either orientation, but just in case I flipped it and tried again and got the same result. I think it's just a badly designed (or badly manufactured) port. That being said, I just won't be using the biometric part, and the keyed entry works just fine for my purposes.
