When I saw the ad for this product, I thought, what would I use this for? Then I remembered the broken electrical conduit above the sheetrock ceiling in the basement that needs repair.I have been putting off the job because there was no safe way to cut out the sheetrock and lower it. I could cut it into small sections.Removing sheetrock that way is one thing. Putting it back is a pain.Testing The RodAdjusting the length is straightforward.Press the orange trigger and extend the top section to the desired height. To make a snug connection. Turn the top foot.Note. Both feet can be adjusted by turning. To lower the rod. Reduce the tension by turning the foot into the rod.If you still have a problem, place the rod against a wall. While pushing on the rod, press the orange trigger. That should do it.I can’t wait to put this thing to work. Previously, I had to rig something to lift or hold sheetrock, 4 x 6 plywood, and yes, 2 x10s while I fastened them in place. It was a pain. This lifting rod and a shorter version I have my eye on are my new best friends.

These support poles have a ton of potential uses but the biggest drawback is that it's tricky to actually get them to tighten up to a ceiling... You can easily adjust to really close to the desired height but then you have to turn the adjustment screw to get them tight; it would be way quicker if this was a ratchet adjustment, that said, you can hold the top pad on the ceiling and twist the pole to tighten the post. I also found that if you put the post on foam you can make it tighten easily.I do like that these are rated to actually hold up weight and I could imagine using these to hold things up while I secure them but it would definitely make sense to screw the top pad to the thing that being lifted cause otherwise the post will fall over as soon as any weight is taken off it.One of the suggested uses is for drywall; I could see using these in tight spaces where you can't get a drywall lift, but I certainly wouldn't want to use them for more than a sheet or two...
