I love the look of coco coir and black metal hanging baskets, but I don’t love seeing all of the water just run through them without adequately hydrating the soil, thereby causing my plants to suffer. These liners inside the baskets keep that from happening. They capture enough of the water to allow the soil to rehydrate, while still looking like pretty coco coir lined baskets. They’re thick and sturdy and can be cut to whatever shape needed. I’m so glad to have these at the beginning of the season to be able to add them to every one of my hanging baskets while refreshing the soil.

These are nice felt liners for planters. It is frustrating watching the water pour out when you water your planters with coco lining. However plastic lining can trap too much water. These felt pads should help with both these problems. The pads are easy to cut and shape to your needs. I also plan on using them in some of my smaller planters to help them retain more moisture on hotter days. There are a lot of felt pads per order, but they are compact and easy to store for the next few years. I have not yet tried them but I look forward to using them this summer.

Whether you have a planter that is outside or inside I highly recommend this self watering plant liner! I am impressed by how thick it is and with its ability to retain water. I was very happy to find a solution to water always overflowing through my plants because the soil is so loose (orchids for example & me sometimes letting my plants get a little too dry). I found that in my climate having water retained in some of my plants actually works best so that they don’t dry out. The size is great and the liner is able to be cut very easily to the size/shape that is needed. This is absolutely a five star product and the price wasn’t bad either for how many you get.

These Adnee self-watering planter liners look fantastic!I do a lot of gardening--including hanging baskets, window boxes and indoor houseplants--so I'm always looking for a way to keep my plants watered without having to spend half my day outside actually doing the watering myself. These liners seem like a great step toward the soluton. I received 60 (and I did count) 6" x 6" felt liners that look absorbent and like they'll do the job. The idea is that the felt liner will absorb and hold excess water, making it available to your plant as the soil dries out.Tip: put some soil on the bottom of your planter and *then* add this self-watering liner, your plant and more soil.At $19, these 60 self-watering planter liners seem like a good value. I'm happy I ordered them and can't wait for warmer weather so I can start using them!

Starting with 5 stars. These absorbed water fairly quickly and enough I could ring it out. These are a good thickness and feel very solid, they should last at least a season (I’ll know for sure when I replant next year). I use those hanging baskets with coconut coir and they seem to dry out quickly. I plan to use these in the baskets I’m planting. I’ll know more as it continues to warm up. I like the idea of these, so excited to see if they work.

The title and description of these items call them "self watering" liners or inserts. They will not hold enough moisture to create a self watering system. There ARE other liners that include moisture absorbing polymer that expands when it comes into contact with water and releases moisture into the roots and soil. To be clear, there is nothing in this product the will substantially improve moisture in your baskets or pots. These are squares of reasonably thick felt-like material. When placed at the bottom of a hanging plant basket or at the bottom of a planter, they will slow the flow of water through soil, allowing a bit more time for the potting medium to absorb water. The liner itself will absorb a minimal amount of water. What is unknown this early into using the product is whether they will become clogged with soil and debris, fully stopping the flow of water through the potting medium. For this reason, I will only be using a few to start with, so I can assess how they function over time. I definitely think these could be useful at the bottom of terracotta pots, to prevent soil loss through the drain hole. Even if the liner material becomes clogged over time, moisture can still be wicked through the clay pot, preventing root rot.
