I wanted to use the tool to shoot down nails into lumber. The tip is to small for the nail head.

Put a trash can on the other side because this thing will throw nails around your shop like a stray bullet. So much power and easy to use, well built.

Works good. Punches most nails out. Small nails or brads sometimes bent. Gave 4 stars instead of 5 for that reason. Still worth the money.

No more wasted wood. This easily removes nails from pallet boards. You might have to pull a few nails out from the thicker boards, but they come out easily enough. I even use it on boards that had staples in it also. It didn't totally remove the 2 inch staples but made it easily removeable with a plier. I even use it on boards that had the former nails shaved off, I just put the tip next to the shave off end and then turned over to remove easily with a pry bar if needed. I WILL RECOMMEND that when removing the nails, do it over a 5 gallon bucket 2/3 full or something with at least 6-8 inches of water. I had some ricocheted at first when I was doing in over a deep garden box to catch the nails I was removing. The water will prevent this from happening. This product has some power to do the job.

I originally purchased this tool primarily for nail removal (salvaging framing lumber from remodels, etc. and pallet break-down for other scrap wood projects), but as other reviews have noted, it's equally effective for setting and/ or driving nails. I have used this on plywood subfloors that were installed with framing nails in the 90's (after screwing into joists), as well as wood decks where some original nails needed resetting after reinforcement with deck screws. No complaints so far, powerful and effective- just don't forget your PPE!

Likes.. Lightweight, good balance, comes with replacement parts. In the time it would have taken me to hammer out the nails on one 2x4 with a hammer, the punch driver had punched out six. I had recovered a pile of wood that would have taken a day in about an hour and a half. It punched just about every sized nail I had to remove without issue. Small nails in plywood may actually punch all the way out so keep a magnet in a plastic bucket handy for clean up. Very nice tool and I'm really happy with the purchase.Dislikes.. None yet.DO wear safety glasses when using this product. It does generate sparks and small metal bits as a result of the punching action. I did find it to be very safe to use despite this.

Works great. Easy to use. Sturdy. Speedy. Able to remove bent-up nails that I could never accomplish without it. Oddly, I find it fun to use and it gives me a sense of accomplishment clearing up boards I would have given up on and just thrown away in the past.

I have spent many many hours removing nails with a hammer, flat bar, and long crowbar and I wished I had this tool back then and saved all that time back!!! I came across this tool on a youtube video and took a chance and so glad I did. This is basically an air hammer and pushes the nail back out the hole.So how does this work? The tool has a shaft with a piston inside. So you place the nail tip into the shaft as far as it will go and press the button. The piston pushes the nail out of the board as far as it can. If the board is thinner than 1.5" it might FLY out of the board! It takes some practice so for smaller nails with thin boards just don't put the nail completely in the shaft. For big 16 nails in thick boards it pushes the nail out as far as it will go and you can pull it on the back side. This works with bent nails as well. Just use the shaft to straighten the nail to try to get line it up with the hole and let it fly!Wear safety glasses and use a bucket with some water or paper to help capture the nails when they fly out of the board!!! I had nails bouncing off the concrete floor and hitting my ceiling 14ft up! Be careful because this thing works very well.
