Rhode Island marine fisheries require a 5” minimum blue crab to be legal. They WILL fine you and take your gear. The seller has incorrect information here. The gauges arrived as expected. No problem with the actual product.

This aluminum lobster and crab gauge from AirFly feels sturdy and lightweight. It is a convenient size and has a hole for hanging or tying something to. In California, you won't be able to use the crab side and that side looks like it could snag on stuff a bit. The overall gauge measures exactly 5 3/4" from end to end so it might be helpful in that aspect but otherwise only the lobster side will be used. These will be easy to carry around and are inexpensive and accurate.

This is a handy tool to have to quickly size up your catch and ensure that you stay legal. It’s a great size to keep on your belt or hanging from a tether or something. The fit and finish is just as pictured. It feels sturdy and it works. Get one!

Both are pretty durable/sturdy. I think it's a decent value for the price too. The measurements are true to other rulers I have. The pictures of the male/female markings seem to be correct. It seems like a very handy gauge for North American crabs and lobsters.

Notuch to say about this kit. Both pieces are waterproof and durable, and should last a long time. They're perfect for quickly assessing if you have a keeper crab or not without trying to wrangle a tape measure while claws are snapping at you.Pairing them with a coiled lanyard to clip to your vest or belt would be an ideal combination to keep them handy for quick use.

For CA spiny lobster it has the correct legal size measurement of 3 1/4 inches but for Dungenesse Crab it's 5 3/4 inches so you can only use one side of this gauge not the crab side if you live in California. The quality of the gauge is nice and sturdy.

Lobster gathering is no joke. It looks so easy, especially on TV. But knowing the laws will keep you from paying a hefty price for a few free lobster. This handy gap gauge quickly identifies the legality of your catch for multiple states. It's easy to use, built like... well, metal and a great value. You can attach this to a wrist band or waist belt, lobster bag or any other rope you have in your boat. Get one or two and stay legal!
