This house is OK, especially if you live in climate where it doesn’t get super cold. The problem with the design is that the main opening is too large and overall the house is about 20% too big for one cat, making it drafty. I have one large tomcat who uses it, but there is too much empty space around him, so his body heat is not held in as much as it ideally should be. If you live in a very cold climate, I would look for an insulated house with “tighter” measurements. I do like that it has an escape door (or two - if you leave the other “connector” side door cracked open). I purchased this house directly from the manufacturers website, but it is the same insulated house as is listed here.

I bought two! One for a stray cat I am feeding and one for a neighbor. I love that it is insulated and rain proof. It’s also very roomy and not too difficult to put together. One challenge I had: the Velcro seemed to be missing from one of the sides of the inside insulation on both of the ones I bought. And they both could have a stronger hold with longer strips on the other sides. I ended up reinforcing it with tape. I do recommend this, but have done strong tape with you.

I wasn’t sure if our feral cat would use this cat house as she has been sleeping under our shed or deck for the last year and a half. However, the first day she went underneath it; then on the second day, she decided to go inside and check it out. I strategically placed it in a spot that I knew she liked and far away from the feeding station so as not to attract the raccoons, possum or skunk. I did not place the plastic on the entrance door. I placed two self warming mats inside on top of each other to keep her warm. Thus far, through rain, snow and extremely cold temperatures she loves it; and has used it every day for the past two months.So glad I purchased this cat house! It looks great up against the backyard fence under the pine trees.

I was honestly truly impressed with the end result of this! There is an odd smell when it first arrived and some of the assembly instructions weren't clear, but it's honestly been amazing in all the crazy weather!! I have a cat I found that I adore. My dogs simply aren't ok with him being inside. I've tried (a lot) but, all animals just get stressed out and panic. I've also attempted to find this sweet kitty cat a home but because he has feline leukemia, all the cat lovers I know can't take him. I needed to keep him safe. I stalked about 40-50 product reviews and decided to give this one a shot. It is wonderful. Has a real roof. As an entrance and exit so he feels safe.(and will use it) Came with extra insulated liners that help keep him warm but can easily be removed. It's withstood some pretty nasty storms and now some unusual frigid temps. He loves it. I check on him often in all weather conditions. I also have an area he can go to on the side of my house that's safe but he now loves this thing. I'm so thankful for it. I'm not exaggerating that I stayed outside with him during hurricane winds before this product arrived just to keep him safe. The first outdoor pet house I tried was way too small and not high enough off the ground. This one is very spacious and could easily hold 2 full sized cats. If you have an animal you're worried about it is definitely worth the money!!!

This shelter is absolutely beautiful. It is very well constructed and does keep out the rain/snow. It is quite large, large enough for a full grown cat to stretch out. I highly recommend this item.

What we love most about this outdoor cat house is, that it's insulated, large and roomy, the asphalt top/roof lifts up for easy cleaning and access to cat dishes, the platforms on the front and side of the cathouse so that the cat can sit or lay outside of the entryway. See our photo. We decided to raise the cat house by placing it on top of a table so that the cat feels more secure away from our dog who likes to chase it. I accidentally ordered the unheat cat house so I purchased an outdoor cat heating pad and a heated food and water dish and placed inside the cat house for our feral Tomcat and he absolutely loves both! We live in the Chicago area and already it's been 14° f. Before we ordered the heated water / food dish, as soon as we place the water in the cat house, it froze ! We also ordered a outdoor power cord extension with three outlets and a remote control so we can turn the heated pad and water dish off from inside our house. When my husband first assembled the cat house and placed it outside, the cat would not sleep inside. We moved his dish from outside on the table to inside the cat house. He would go inside and eat the food and leave. As the Chicago weather started to dip down under freezing, we noticed that gradually the cat that we now call Tabby, has become very comfortable inside of his new home. As you can see on the photos, Tabby uses the side window/dorr to see what's going on outside and when the weather is above freezing, Tabby sits on his front perch. We are so very happy that this outdoor insulated cat house has worked out for our new friend, Tabby, the feral Tomcat.
