Most of the components in this kit were fine, but I had 3 issues with parts related to the Joker Valve.1. The valve is made of thin, flimsy rubber compared to the original.2. The valve was distorted, meaning that it had large gaps in the end that is supposed to seal during the suction stroke to prevent backflow. So, the assembled pump is unable to seal and create suction. Pumping hard and fast does not help, the gaps in the joker are about 1/8" and allow air back into the chamber on the suction stroke. One cheaply made faulty part renders the entire pump useless.3. The longer 2 screws used to secure the joker in place are the same length as the originals, but the tip is tapered too much so it doesn't grab and engage the rubber as intended. Fortunately I saved the originals which are a tiny bit longer and have a more blunt tip. The shorter 2 screws that also secure the joke were fine.Waiting for a replacement kit now, which sucks because I need this pump working now.

This kit is not ideal and the instructions are inadequate. My original diaphragm was flat, but the new one had undulations. The instructions just said to "note the orientation of the old diaphragm", but since they're different, that does not define the orientation of the new one!! There's a primitive sketch of the assembly but even that's not clear about the orientation! I took a calculated guess and assembled the unit. It seems to work, but I'm not sure if it's the optimum? Also the smaller screws for the check-valve assembly are too long and they bottom-out, strip the rubber and cause it to leak!

I this rebuild kit did a nice job of restoring my 40 year old whale pump. However, the parts are not quite the same as the original, and some care is required to get them all to fit.

Bought a boat and discovered that the manual bilge pump did not work. Found this kit, and without much trouble, was able to rebuild and reinstall. Now it works perfectly!

Henderson MKV manual bilge pump has been overhauled using this kit. The majority of the parts fit like a glove. The only exception was 2 stainless steel screws for the valve that were too long. Having them filed worker just fine but it took some time in the awkward boat / marina environment.But after all I'm a happy camper. The pump's working like brand new ;-)
