Bought this for my husband's Jeep but don't know that much about it yet. Haven't had a chance to install it.

Works great, the cable is a bit long, but I guess it leaves you a choice to put it somewhere else other then your dash, when it's installed it only takes about an 1" of pull to engage it, and don't pull on the knob very hard, the only hang up I had was I had to file the shift fork and housing some to make a smoother movement, due to casting bumps and burrs, after that it works great

1. Installed fine. Instructions were followed. I had one large, gentle loop in the finished setup.2. It worked for a couple weekend 4x4 outings and then failed. The cable would not budge.3. I dissembled the kit, put the cable on my work bench and dissected it.4. Outer tube is hard plastic. Inside that are dozens of parallel copper wires running from tip to tip.5. Inside that is the metal cable covered in a plastic sleeve that moves back and forth with the cable inside the parallel wires.6. The plastic sleeve was frayed and bound up between the wires rendering the metal cable completely immobile.7. Crappy engineering and prone to failure.8. 4x4 Posi-Lok claims to be the original manufacturer in the USA of this system and claims that the Alloy USA is a knock-off, which you can tell by the addition of a twist-locking knob below the main knob. When I first bought this Alloy USA, the photo showed the twist-lock knob and that is what they sent me. Interesting that now it is not shown and instead they are using a photo of the system that 4x4 Posi-Lok sells. http://4x4posi-lok.com9. Supposedly I have a 5 year warranty and am trying to get a hold of Alloy USA to get a new cable. But I think I will just buy something else.

Kit came exactly as prescribed. Yes the cable is long... no you can't easily shorten it... I went in the firewall and loop through the throttle cable mount on the valve cover and made my own lock down piece for it. Don't kink the cable and test everything before you are done. The 4wd light will stay on if you have too much cable fed through. You are sliding the opposite direction then the vacuum system. So when you pull the cable the pressure releases from the light notification mechanism (ball bearing) held in the indicator portion. This is the most common issue with the install. Take your time. You will have to tighten the cable with one additional final turn to line up the bolts holes. Great product so far.

3 stars because not sent me the sensor and a bolt that need to work. I brought this to Costa Rica. I had to find this stuff by my self. Amazon give me a discount, but I would have preferred all the stuff. In the installation the issue was the cable, this was too long cable, I had to make some tricks to connect this. Also when tried to disconnect the axle, this fail and I need to mount the tire over some rock or wall to disconnect. I checked all connections and all was fine, but I had this issue.

Lock kit works great on my 1989 Jeep YJ,The only problem was that the cable is to long.I made A loop in the cable by my left inner fender. Problem solved!

This kit is all inclusive easy to install and takes the worry away of a failed vacuum actuator. Took about 3 hours to install it and that was with beer breaks. The price of the the unit was the lowest I could find, ( I'm a cheap son of a gun), and the quality was top notch.I would recommend this kit to anyone.
