Nickel Bar Bridge

Simple, effective upgrade for the typical Gretsch stock bridge rattle. Takes less than 5 mins to slip on to a g2024. Looks great/vintage. For the price, it’s great. Intonation with slinky flatwounds 0.10s is very good. Not perfect. But, very good.

Also confirming that this AllParts GB-2565-001 Nickel Bar Bridge fits perfectly on a Gretsch G5410T (in addition to a G5420T based on other review). I was a bit worried about intonation, but another reviewer had stated it was fine on his G5420T with 11 gauge strings. I can also verify that the intonation is excellent with 10 gauge strings. It's also very high quality - a solid piece of brass with nickel finish which is noticeably heavier than the original tune-o-matic, but the weight increase on the guitar is not detectable.Tuning stability is very good, which is improved with the bridge (along with a nicely cut nut.) I also use lubricant on the nut and bridge for good measure.I had thought about getting a roller bridge to reduce friction, but from my own experience and how I use the Bigsby (i.e. I'm not that aggressive with it), I didn't foresee the need of a roller bridge, which has it's own issues, as rollers can stick over time, and therefore, require more maintenance. It's fairly expensive, but not bad compared to a Compton or TruArc Bridge, which I contemplated on buying. In the end, there was no need to pay more money on those alternatives because my tuning stability and intonation is excellent, I'm very happy with my purchase.

The rocking bar bridge adds a nice, hard-to-define 'shininess' to the guitar's sound, with smoother feel and better sustain. Conical mounting holes make the bridge rock along to the Bigsby's motion, which improves tuning stability. You do lose string-by-string intonation adjustment, but position the bridge base at the right angle and it's just fine. It's a perfect, vintage-appropriate upgrade for Gretsch guitars in particular, but could smoothe out any bright guitar - as long as your playing isn't too aggressive!

There was nothing wrong with this bridge, strong, excellent quality, but too big for the purpose that I was thinking. I'll keep it just for another project.

All reviews read about how it just drops right in place of the factory Gretsch bridge are not accurate. The mounting holes are too big for the bridge posts…very sloppy!

I replaced the original bridge with this and I like it better.

Just to confirm for the Gretsch Electromatic 5420 users this was a drop in replacement for the stock Gretsch tune-o-matic style bridge. Some users are concerned about intonation issues when changing from adjustable saddles even to the point of unscrewing the pinned down fixed bridge base to slant it. I didn’t and with the 11-49 gauge string set intonation is right on. The tone of the guitar is subtly different but not drastically. A bit more lively and full but the main attraction for me is the great look and smoothness compared to the AOM. The nickel finish really looks right even with the gold hardware on the TG version. The stock bridge (also rocks with motion of the Bigsby which is helpful) is chrome anyway. It worked well and sounded good but this just lifts the guitar up a bit. There are several other choices out there including more upscale variants but I’m not sure that they would perform any better than this.

Larger diameter than original bridge on a vintage gretsch 6120, ending up cutting it down seems to do the trick. Solid part, fast shipping.

Perfect drop-in replacement for my G5420T. Instantly increased sustain and the tone is noticeably more robust. Best part - no more buzzing saddles! Intonation is actually just fine as far as I'm concerned, and I admittedly am pretty picky about that. But I see no need for something like a Compton or Serpentune over this, even ignoring the huge price difference.
