I shouldn't have ignored some bad reviews... this ripped on my first use. It's insane how easily this came apart for motorcycle gear.

This Balaclava is keeping my neck and shoulder warm with the double liner but I wished it was a little warmer on the head, specially in the front where you are more exposed if you are wearing a dirt bike helmet like I do. overall is a good product, you need to pay attention when you take it out since it's a "little bit tight on the neck".

I have a couple other balaclavas - a very light one and medium weight one I use for cool weather (Zero Gravity brand). I don't think they were made for motorcycling but they worked well - unless it was really cold. The winter balaclava I had did not have the long neck part and when riding in cooler weather (25 degrees or less) my neck area would get chilled. So I purchased this. Rode with it up around 8000 feet on some dirt roads and it passed the test. The neck portion of this has two different layers and materials around the neck which are great. It was totally wind proof and repelled wind and stayed warm when I was on the highway doing about 75mph. The head part is thinner but still kept my head warm. It was a bit warmer than usual when I rode so my head started sweating a bit at times when I was off road. The material for the head part was breathable and also dried quickly. I took a break and removed my helmet and the material dried out within a few minutes while drinking water. I'm set now anytime I need to keep my head and chest/neck area warm while riding.

I wish I bought it sooner. I got no issues. This product was carefully design to block the wind chill out from the neck and head. Mouth and nose breathing holes are perfect as I haven’t get any fogs inside the visor on this winter Highly recommended

This is an outstanding product. Wind has zero chance. It could be on the tight side if you head is too large. I have 61cm circumference (Large Helmets usually) and it's just enough to go through. Taking it off is little more engaging but is worth the effort using it. Be mindful that due to the nose being covered, all your breath fogs up the visor. I usually pull down the balaclava so it doesn't cover the nose. Again it's up to the helmet in many cases. Mine does not have this airflow dam between the nose and the visor it all goes straight to the visor even without the balaclava. I rode the other day 45min at night around 9pm at 26 Degree Fahrenheit (around -3.5 Celsius). Did not even notice it was cold outside. Great product from Alpinestars.

This is perfect. The key thing when it comes to dealing with rain is channeling the water properly away. With traditional balaclavas you create an entry point for rain to get in and under your waterproof jacket around the neck area when you tuck the balaclava in. This is what happened to me on a recent trip and I was wondering if there was away to have two layers, a warmer inner layer and a lightweight water proof out layer that sites outside on top one the collar and well Alpinestar made it. This thing has two layers and it is designed right. You can breath easy with it I haven’t tested it in rain yet. The head area is super snug just like it is supposed to and it is thin light weight material so it doesn’t causes an issue when wearing the helmet in fact it makes it sliding it on and off easy.

Very warm, and does the job. Warning, breath vents out eye area, causes glasses to fog.

Having looked at a variety of balaclavas and reading various reviews, I decided this was the one to go with. I already have been impressed with a pair of their motorcycle shoes and cold-weather socks, and I know they are a well-established gear manufacturer. One problem many other brands had with their balaclavas was a lack of a full coverage of the neck, both front and particularly the back. This product has a nice length and double-layer thickness of the "skirt" if you will, and keeps your neck area consistently shielded from wind. It has a softer fleece inner layer in this area of the neck. I wear a full set of gear in this cold weather, and this balaclava fits nicely beneath my textile jacket and flip-up full face helmet.Motorcycle balaclavas cannot be immensely warm due to the fact of thickness restriction. You would never get your helmet on comfortably, or you'd have an extra larger helmet for just the occasion which is a waste of money. This product does what it is designed to and blocks wind very well, keeps you warm, and looks fairly cool. I had some comments that I looked "like an assassin out of a movie" when I wore this with my all black gear and black sport bike. Regardless of what you want to look like, go with this one. It's worth the little extra money IMO. My only gripe is that the nosepiece cover can slide a little bit during use, but this is expected with the heavy helmet I have. Oh, but good news is that the eye hole space is huge and doesn't restrict vision, which is one thing I can't say about some other balaclavas I saw.I will update if I find any problems down the road, but so far it's performed well even during 30s-40s temperatures on the highway at night for over a half-hour.
