I wanted to use this with my Orion tripod. As you can see in the picture, the opening of the tripod (left) is too small for the mount base (right) to fit. Big disappointment. I was really hoping to use this mount for my Orion Observer 134mm. I'm curious if that big screw in the bottom of the mount could have been unscrewed and one of the layers could have been removed and the remaining layer would fit. If anyone knows I wish they'd inform me. The majority of mounts are this same diameter, 78mm, so none of them work. As yet I have no mount. The only plus was that Amazon seamlessly processed my return/refund.

If you’re looking for a mount for a small telescope to use on a photo tripod, this is a very nice mount for that. Lightweight and portable. Smooth controls and motion. No problems with my 80mm f/7 refractor and I feel it’s 5kg rating is likely accurate.For a fast setup and take down as a grab and go rig, it excels.
