I have tried these lyres for a few different instruments. Phones are obviously the way of the future for flip folders as you have unlimited digital options, so it makes sense to change over to this style of lyre in the long term. I had better success with this one than I did with other instruments because it is positioned correctly for the instrument and it works well with how most saxophones have their lyre attachment. It came with the right angle and distance for reading music, but my main complaint is that the phone only attaches portrait-wise, and you need to rotate the holder in order to make it landscape, which messes up the balance of the whole thing. Also, the clip doesn't have much room for my case and pop socket, and even then it's only enough room if you can open both sides of the clip simultaneously to get the phone in there. I will definitely use it and I think it's a good product for the price. However, I would pay more for a few better features. All in all, probably the best proof of concept for these lyres as it is fully functional, if basic. I would recommend as a starter option.

I was dubious, since the plastic looked cheap and it wouldn't tighten all the way. Once I quickly got it on and was using it though, it worked great! It was just tight enough behind the phone that I could reposition it in any direction without it being loose. It didn't work as well with a phone that had a deep, slippery case, but it should work great with most phones. It doesn't open near far enough to put a tablet in, but I wouldn't expect that to be any fun while holding an alto sax anyway. My tests were with a Yamaha Alto Sax and a Samsung Galaxy S10 (and an iPhone 12 Mini with too deep of a case).
