Purchased this for a 2005 Ford Ranger 4.0L. Fit was great and no concerns with the gasket or O rings. Installed and didn’t have any issues with leaks. However, I attempted to use the new temp sensors rather than reinstall my originals. The sensors that came with this housing did not work with my truck. They connected fine at the terminals but the instrument cluster read hot and dash lights came on like it was overheating when the truck was started. I ended up having to tear everything apart a second time to get access to it and replace the new sensors with my originals. Once I did, everything was just fine.

It bolted right up and fit great. The temperature sensors felt a little loose like the o-rings weren't the right size and I was afraid of leaks but so far everything is holding up and no leaks so far.

The product is great, great quality, but you have to be aware of leaks in the o-ring area where the thermostat goes if you buy this product, you should always buy a better o-ring for it. I change mine and It stop leaking. The o-ring it came with its smaller in thickness.

Edit again 2 years later maybe tick longerRecommend you won't regret for a 4.0My first thermostat i installed this with a fail safe instead to be safe I'm on a 2nd one now 180 degrees sensors came with the housing working flawless. Replacing thermostat easy install and no leak each time you pull apart off replace the gasket! I learned the hardware when replacing a tensioner.Going extremely well love the quality yet to have a issue knock on wood. I recommend completely if you are looking for a better replacement then plastic.I loved the aluminum more than the plastic housing that came OEM which was causing my truck to leak antifreeze have ran it for 5-7 Months no complaints definitely worth the money especially being on a daily driver higher quality for the price wont regret buying again for another truck.2001FordRanger Edge2wd4.0L V6Automatic

Slightly taller than the stock unit on a ranger 4.0, plan to take off your throttle body.I have some doubts about the included temperature sensors, they seems to be less accurate than the factory units, but they do function, and for the money, who cares?This does use a different retainer clip for the sensors. If you want to re-use your factory units, replace their o-rings.I didn't use the included thermostat, opting for a better known brand.
