Came in a plastic bag, but that is okay. My other two, used one's (and old) are lumpy and came in boxes. I will probably toss them. They still work, but leave a bigger mess than I remember. Had them since "94". New one look's well made and will get lots of use.

Works well as an eraser

I use this product for drafting and it genuinely helps my tools move better on my drafting board. Only thing I would change is the consistency of the eraser shedding. Majority of them are very small and fine, but there are occasional chunks that are a little annoying. Other than that, great product.

I've been looking for a replacement for my old eraser bag. This was the nearest I could find, but the quality isn't even close. It's fine for lightening large areas or fine marks, but I found that it isn't great at clearing prominent lines and has a tendency to smear things. My biggest gripe is that the fabric weave is unnecessarily loose, causing it to leave a ridiculous mess behind. It primarily just made me miss my old one.

This is great for cleaning books, covers and all. Just use it gently, and wipe in one direction. Do not use too much pressure it will damage or sand down the paper. I used it to remove mold from books and it worked exceedingly well. It does leave a mess of gritty rubbery stuff, so don’t do it over a rug, or cover the area first.

wonderful things I learned in high school and the great teachers who tried so hard to teach me something, I wish I paid more attention and gave them more respect. Back in 1978 this thing was still a standard part of the supplies handed out in my drafting class by the stern, kind, knowledgeable Gene Medlock RIP. Of course you were taught not to make a smeary mess from the beginning, but for those of us who had to redraw the thing 2 or 3 times – thankfully there was the erasing bag, along with art gum and kneaded rubber erasers and erasing shields. This loosely woven bag is full of eraser crumbs and will not work miracles. It won’t remove anything that’s penetrated the paper [like most paper foxing, water stains, ink], and it will lift ANYTHING and abrade the paper if it’s applied too zealously. It’s for use when an eraser will leave a glaring [sometimes shiny] mark or sharp edge or when your work surface is delicate and/or large. I collect antique cardboard boxes w/lithographed covers and I’ve used it to lighten [not remove] prices or notes written with a grease/regular pencil, dirt, grime, unidentifiable discoloration etc. I apply a light touch and avoid tears and ragged edges – it’s more about conservation and cosmetic touch-up than restoration keeping in my mind that some of the artwork and cardboard is acidic and now more than 100 years old. Rub the bag against itself to release a generous well distributed shower of eraser crumbs across your target surface. The crumbs are doing the work, not the cloth bag, which will stay clean if you make sure you have enough crumbs. If you’re lucky enough to have a test spot, use it. If not, look around the house for something to practice on. Start by using the weight of the bag in a small circular motion directed to the spot you’re trying to improve, ‘scrub’ judiciously with extra crumbs and only if absolutely necessary working slowly, small areas at a time, constantly checking your work and its affects. [Jeff Burns, thanks for helping me pass that class!].

I always kept one of these rubbers by me when producing illustrations and drawings. Excellent for tidying up the finished sheet. This most recent purchase does not seem to be of the same quality or texture, in my opinion....not as good!

Not being an artist, I'd never heard of this before I started googling for a product to remove pencil markings on an antique wood box. Found this and I was able to remove ALL the pencil marks from the wood, and more importantly from an original decorative paper label that I'd wanted to preserve in the box, as well as a delicate painted floral decoration on the outside. Both came out clean; the original colored decoration and verbage remained intact on the label; the heavily begrimed painted motif outside the box looks fresh and new, without any color loss. It took a lot of elbow grease using this for over an hour on a 3 inch diameter box, but what a difference!! It looks like new!!!

My husband and I purchased a 3' x 5' black and white print that originated from an Ivar's Sea Food restaurant in Seattle. It had been in storage for many years so good contrast was maintained but it had several issues including built up grime, scuffs, coffee stains, a Sharpie mark, and some light blue ink spots. We got a quote to clean it that 'started' at $500. That seemed excessive so we looked for alternatives. A friend of ours suggested using a putty eraser which I purchased at the same time as this item. I began to clean this item at about 10:00 this morning and spent about five hours on it. It's not perfect but it removed about 95% of the dirt, most of the scuffs and lightened the coffee stain. I had no luck with the Sharpie mark or the ink spots. This is still far from perfect but given the age of the poster and my shoulder, not bad! The putty eraser was a 'no-go'. This neophyte has learned a few things from this experience. First, any effort to reduce/eliminate a deeper scuff should include a broad overall deep cleaning of the entire area around that scuff or it will stick out as being a 'bright spot' on the canvas. I made gains at leveling out the surface but hope to improve on that when I give it a second cleaning. Second, one of these pads is sufficient for about a 3' x 5' moderately dirty area. Third, it helps to have a large quantity of the eraser particles on the surface. Don't brush it off early in the process but rather use the granules over-and-over again.
