I have a good set of 1-1/4" shaper cutters from Amana tool. This is my first 3/4" piece and the quality is on par with its larger cousins. Amana makes good tools to the point where they are really an industry standard. They aren't cheap but you get what you pay for.This lock miter cutter has three massive carbide flutes mounted on a very precise base with a smooth bore. Finish quality is very solid and the carbide is sharp and well machined. It is easy to touch up this kind of carbide with a diamond file when it starts to dull (which should be a while).

I have a large CNC router machine in my shop with lots of different tooling to go with it. And this is one tool I was wanting to get and try for some upcoming projects during the winter months. I can tell from handling this that the quality is there and that it will perform as designed for. This will make nice edge joints in a wide variety of materials. This is great for woods, but I have also done a lot of foam fabrication where parts have to come together and generally used all other methods except with miter bits. It will be interesting to see what machine adjustments will be needed to match that material with this bit. But again it is a quality bit and from a good company Amana Tool and things should be easy with this as it is very sharp and designed to last.

Amana is no stranger to quality cutting tools and this one is no exception. The cutter seems well balanced and the carbide cutters are sharp and well brazed to the base. The cut was very smooth on my test pieces, though I can see that setting up a lock miter takes a lot of trial cuts. The cutter includes 3/4 to 1/2" bushing so you can use it on either size spindle. The cutter also comes in a nice protective case. Shaper cutters can be expensive, but I would not hesitate buying Amana tools.

I've been very satisfied with this bit. It is working extremely well. I've used it for over two dozen cuts so far, in both hard wood and soft wood with no issues or dulling. The bit is still sharp, and I've had no issues with catching or burning. Overall, the bit is excellent quality, and I expect to last a long time.

Amana router bits and shaper cutters are always top notch. One important part of that is that they are well balanced unlike the green bits.
