Special unique carbide for longer lifetime in abrasive Material. Designed for CNC applications requiring high feed rates and a clean finish. Particularly suitable for double-sided melamine or laminated material. Flawless compression cuts. Our spektra bits feature a naco nanocomposite coating with an extreme nanohardness and heat resistance. With a brilliant distinctively-tinted coloring naco provides additional improvements in four critical aspects of router tooling.Naco coating is a micro-thin ceramic coating which enables the Tool's cutting edge to retain crucial sharpness and lubricity. This provides longevity and produces cutting results of the highest quality.Coating prevents high heat and oxidation which is detrimental to cutting tool performance.Multi-colored hues, while attractive, will dissipate upon use and yet coating will remain fully effective.Naco offers approximately 4, 500 Vickers for impressive solid hardness on cutting areas of the tool, for an increase Up To 2.5 times compared to uncoated bits, #46180-K, (D) diameter: 1/8, (b) Cutting height: 13/16, (D) shank: 1/8, overall length (L): 2-1/2, B1: 7/32, Type: naco ceramic coating, flutes: 2, 46180-K CNC solid carbide spektra extreme tool life Coated compression spiral 1/8 dia x 13/16 inch x 1/8 shank

Like others have said, these compression bits are easy to break if you aren't careful. I broke the first one I had but haven't broken one since. I cut 1/2" Birch plywood with these and see that they dull pretty quickly considering the cost and the "extra durable" coating. Once they dull, they create a fair amount of tearout where the bit changes from upcut to downcut. I'll be trying the cheaper Holzy and Whiteside compression bits to see how they work.

Bit broke on first use. I had been running an identical bit for days that cost $3 each. (Hozly up/down cut) This was my first Amana bit and had high hopes but it broke after about 3 minutes. The $3 Hozly bit easily outperformed the $55 Amana spektra bit.

I got this bit for my cnc hoping that a compression bit would leave clean edges on the top and bottom of the material and save me some sanding versus an up-spiral bit which I have been using. Unfortunately, this bit left a rough edge on both sides doubling my sanding time. The whole point of a compression bit is to leave a clean surface on both sides, which is why they are so expensive. Even on the Amana website they say this bit is recommended for plywood.I do not recommend at all.
