We hung basic LED work lights in our theatre catwalk for a cheap and easy stage wash for rehearsals and set builds. (Just the flat panel LED work lights from Northern Tool). We plugged them into a relay pack, but were having trouble with the LEDs taking forever to turn off after we tried to turn them off (via DMX to the relay pack), or they would stay on with a glow for a long time afterwards. We put one of these between the relay pack and the LED's and it worked perfectly. Now we have actual DMX control over the LED's, and they turn off when we tell them to. It seems to be a little expensive for what it is, but it works well. We are going to be doing the same over the stage, and will likely buy at least 1 more for that.

I’ve used these in several situations to make LED lights work with traditional dimmers. Before, the LED lights would flicker, even at the lowest setting. With these, they go all the way out and stay out.

My holiday tree was blinking strangely after plugging it into an outlet controlled by a smart dimmer switch (Lutron Caseta). Reddit says a little plug like this would help - and it absolutely did. Easy and cheap fix for an annoying problem!

I picked up 4 of these to get LED bulbs to turn all the way off when using a DMX dimmer pack. They work well. A little pricy for something so simple but for the place I was using them it was my only option.

Our church built some simulated stained glass windows for our platform. We use LED strip lighting to back-light them, but, once I plugged them into our dimmer/switch pack, they would all flicker on then off every second or less, in sync, at a consistent pulse rate. It did not matter if the DMX channels were on or off. I stumbled upon these dummy loads as being the solution (or workaround I guess) and they are. The lights now behave exactly as they should. They come on when we want them on, go off when we want them off, and there is no flickering or other anomalies.

I created a chasing marquee for a play using dimmable LED light bulbs, however, my dimmer system wasn't able to turn off the lights completely. I read about dummy/ghost loaders, purchased eight of these (one for each strand of lights) and everything works great! They seem pricy for the size, but for essential applications like this, it saved the day.

I wanted to convert the house lights in a small local theater to LED's, but the older dimmer pack we use for them was not compatible - even at zero, the lights still had a faint glow. Well, with this Dummy plugged in everything worked perfectly! Very happy.

Expensive, but necessary if using LED lighting with traditional dimmer packs. You could easily build your own, but these are compact, durable and convenient.
