The face of each panel is made from top quality birch and the frame is constructed of a smooth solid wood cradle (frame around the back) which provides a strong foundation, ensures against warping, and makes for easy hanging. Smooth sanded edges allow your creation to flow beyond the face of the panel. Wooden panels are quickly becoming the preferred surface for many artists.

I ordered this wood panel so that I could glue my canvas painting to it. It is very smooth wood, nice quality, not too heavy. I was able to glue the canvas painting using Gorilla wood glue and I did not have any problems. Came out great!

These are great for painting. It did have a little dent in it but I didn’t see it until after I painted. Still a great product

This cradled painting panel is well made and very sturdy. I looked for this product based on a recommendation from Elizabeth St. Hillaire's book, Painted Paper Art Workshop: Easy and Colorful Collage Paintings. After attempting one of these collages on a paper background, I was ready to invest in a better substrate for my next attempt. It takes gesso easily and I only had to do a little bit of sanding, before it was ready to go. The price was reasonable for the amount of time and effort that goes into one of these collages. I plan to continue using these panels and I recommend them.

My word I love these. Love. LOVE. L-O-O-O-V-E. Wood panels are my go-to substrate. I dislike the saggy blahness of canvas. Not a fan of the 'canvas' texture that canvas has. (Who knew it would have that?!) It just isn't the substrate for me. However, wood? Flat, straight, well sanded, cradled WOOD? Wahoo!! Bring on the mediums, paints, 3D embellishments, and anything else I can find to throw at it! Wood - exactly like this item - can handle it all without sagging or otherwise acting funky. Or paint something without adding heavy/bulky things. The finished piece looks...classier. Better made. Wood won't let you down. Need to rework an area? It's WOOD - go for it! You don't have to be gentle like you do with mamby-pamby canvas. (That is certainly the first time I've ever used *that* term!)American Easel is one of my favorite brands. They produce serious workhorses! The wide range of sizes, consistency of quality, fast shipping...their heavenly wood panels meet all my needs. I've created a piece or 653 on these panels, and they have never let me down. Never! I know exactly what to expect with these. No splitting. No sagging. (Did I mention I dislike sagging? Whether pants or canvasses, I'm not a fan.) No problems.Love me some good workmanship - and American Easel has 'nailed' it! (Haha, get it? Wood...nail...never mind. I obviously need more coffee.)

I haven't used these much, but since there are not many reviews wanted to chime in and report more later. The are solid, elegant, gorgeous, smell good, (not like solvent.) I looked for flaws, as there are usually some nicks, scrapes, things that have to be sanded out, (what a pain..) and to my surprize, there are none! I white gloved it (metaphorically.) Wow, is that pretty impressive. I got 2-16x20 inch, by almost an inch deep. and 1 11 x 14, also flawless. The price can't be beat if you ask me, even though you are paying for shipping online. They have an elegance and softness, and solidity so far that I like more than any other board of it's type. More on this board later when I have had more experience with it.I use them for encaustic painting, and also mixed media work, collage, painting, oil and acrylic.
