They work OK, but no better than old tubes that are on their last legs going weak. They take too long to warm up which in my application is a real problem. Try a "life" test on them in a tube tester. You should be able to turn the filament voltage way down or off and the emission stays up for a few seconds, some tubes as long as 10 seconds, but these crappy ones go from barely in the good range down into the bad range very fast. Luckily I saved some 50 year old ones since they test better than these.

I liked the purchasing experience. I bought the tube for my Fender Princeton Reverb amplifier.

I have used JJ tubes for many years. I do my own work on my tube amplifiers. I bought this tube a 1977 silver face Princeton Reverb. The tube arrived very quickly and it enabled me to finish restoring the amplifier. Works perfectly. I’m very pleased with this purchase.

After losing a rectifier tube in my hand wired amp, I tried this JJ tube after reading a few online reviews. It really woke my amp up, and it came at a very reasonable price.I am very pleased with this tube.

While "back in the day" when tubes were actually relevant and used in day-to-day applications and not for boutique electronics, the trend over the years was for tubes to grow smaller and smaller, modern production tubes seem to be having the exact opposite trend. Compared to a 1960 5U4, this one is nearly an inch taller. As far as performance goes, it delivers a very consistent voltage straight at listed spec, so I am completely happy with it. I bought this to replace a 5Y3 in a vintage amplifier, and conventional wisdom is that it's safer to go "up" a letter in rectifiers than "down," since the 5U4 draws an amp more than the 5Y3, so it's important to see whether your transformer can tolerate that additional draw. Besides that, the voltage drop from this brings me a lot smoother gain and balance from the 12AX7s than the 5Y3, plus it's got enough oomph to crank the 6V6 I put in the amp to replace the stock 6AQ5 the amp was built with. The 5Y3 was a little bit too smooth and dropped the voltage down to "parlor" volume instead of something reasonably close to decent amplification. So overall, really pleased with this rectifier, although it does get noticeably hotter than the 5Y3 as well, on top of being fully twice as tall as that one.
