About this item

  • Mercury-free: uses Gallium-Indium-Tin instead of Mercury to accurately measure temperature. Non toxic.
  • No need for batteries
  • Precise, unbreakable and enviromental friendly
  • 100% environmentally safe
  • 100% cost effective

Classic is a robust clinical analogue thermometer. It does not contain Mercury (which is toxic): it uses instead Galistan to precisely measure body temperature. NOTE: temperature reading is in degrees Celsius. Classic does not need batteries and always work!

This is an Old school Eastern Europe thermometer with Celsius. This is only for people who know how to use it. Extremely accurate comparing to electronic devices. And most important thing is that it doesn’t contain mercury, what’s why it’s safe to use.

It gives an accurate reading. If you just shake the thermometer by your bare hands to reset the thermometer, it usually failed, I suggest using the “reset device ” that included in the package.Try search the video footage using keywords “Geratherm classic EN” on YouTube and watch the video from 1:19, it demonstrates how to use the reset device.

I've spent years looking for a digital thermometer that works. I literally have more than 10 of them in my closet—some are cheap no-name ones I got on sale, others are high-end ones that I did copious research online and paid a lot of money for. Not one of them is reliable. I follow the instructions to the letter, but invariably they give inaccurate temperatures; I could take a temperature with a digital thermometer one second and then ten seconds later get a wildly different number. And of course, none of them match each other.I had my last straw when I tried one of the highly-rated digital thermometers and it told me my child had a ridiculously high fever. It turns out she just had a slight fever, but I had to go through half a dozen thermometers to calm myself down, and to this day I still don't know what her real temperature was.I remember growing up my parents using glass thermometers with red liquid that I always thought was mercury. It was actually never mercury (mercury is silver) but alcohol dyed red. There was never any question about the accuracy of these thermometers.I looked online and found a dozens and dozens of thermometers from no-name brands. I wasn't about to go through the same exercise of buying all of them. Then I found Geratherm. They're a German company who pioneered the use of Gallium-Indium-Tin, which is complete safe and non-toxic, to measure temperature. Like the old thermometers, there is no doubt that these are accurate. It does take a 3-4 minutes for the temperature to fully register, which in today's day and age many may not have the patience for. But if you need a temperature you know is accurate, it's worth the wait. I use it to "double-check" which digital thermometers are actually accurate.A warning also that it only has Celsius, not Fahrenheit. I don't mind too much, as I just ask my Echo device to do the conversion for me.Everyone should have one of these, if just as a backup to your digital thermometer. At this price, it's worth it.

I am baffled that no one here knows how to use an analog thermometer. Because there is no mercury, you need to shake the thermometer rather violently (careful not to dislocate your shoulder) in order to get the "Galinstan" back into the sheath. The Galinstan is composed of gallium, indium, and tin which is 10000000% more safe than Mercury. No there are no batteries in this, this had to have been the dumbest thing I ever read.

I had to wait about a month for it to arrive from Switzerland... no big deal. I liked the idea that it was made in Germany. I wanted to try it when it arrived so I put it in my mouth and shortly thereafter it unexpectedly shot out of my mouth. That was my fault, I must have moved my mouth or tightened my face muscles. So, it fell on the floor at my feet and it broke and out came the Gallium-Indium-Tin. Better than mercury I guess but I was very disappointed that it broke so easily. I wish I could have at least gotten one temperature reading to know how it works but no such luck. So this review is purely based on the fact that they advertise it as unbreakable and I can attest to its breakability.

Product is well-put together; not too small or too big, relatively easy to read and it has an outer sleeve that is also well designed where the top end of the thermometer is held firmly into place and doesn't shift around whilst inside the protective container; you can see the actual temperature reading/line as a blue or silver line, by rotating the device (the blue line shows as a thick line, and the silver line shows as a thin line); overall, nicely built relative to price
