Easy to assemble, easy to use. The handles make things more comfortable. Seems to work well and the included poker is nice to help clear things up. The little tray fills quickly but could be better than little dirt pellets all over the yard.

This aerator is very sturdy and well made. To really get the best results, your grass should be on the dry side but not too dry. The plugs of grass will not go through the tubes if the grass is too wet. If your grass is too dry then you won’t be able to push the tubes into the ground. The downside is the tubes need to be cleared fairly often because the collector gets full or the tubes get clogged up. Other than that this tool works fairly well and creates much bigger holes than those other aerators that are basically two rows of nails. Overall I would recommend this tool if you’re doing a small area of grass.

This aerator works exactly as described, but having had just completed my front yard I have some guidance for those choosing to go this route. First, about the construction of the device: It's solid. I can imagine using this for years and it working just fine. The assembly was easy and secure. All the required items needed are included. It sits a little lower than my waist. I thought it might be a little short but after using it I appreciated that it was smaller in that it reduced the amount of weight it was.But for the actual work:- This product is great for smaller patches of grass. A full yard takes a lot of time. I found the work enjoyable so I was able to complete my front yard, but I did not have enough time to get to the back in one sitting.- Depending on your soil makeup, you may regularly get the tines plugged and it ends up compacting the soil to make a hole than slicing a hole out of it. My soil is full of clay and so it got plugged quite often.- I am so glad it comes with a tool to clear the tines. Because I would have had to use a screw driver to to the same function. And I regularly had to clear the tines.Overall, I am pleased with the product. I imagine using it for years to come.

Easy to assemble and sturdy design. Overall I would say this is a good product but there is one improvement that is needed- the pointed stakes at the bottom need to open to a wider diameter before the tray- in order to actually work. Currently these tips work for about three stabs into the ground and then clog (because the opening is too small towards the tray) and therefore the cores don’t come through into the convenient tray. This flaw makes it so that I have spent as much time unclogging as using the product.

This is a great kit for aerating small areas. The kit comes with everything you need to put the tool together - allen wrench, 10mm hexnut wrench, even nut covers. It even includes a tool to clear out the hollow tines if they get clogged during use.The instructions show how to put the bolts through the center section to complete the tool. I did not put the nut covers on before the first use. I will use the tool on the lawn first, then do another tightening before I put them on long term. The tool is best used on moist lawn, either after a rain or manual watering. The tines extend four inches below the bottom of the collection bin. Each time you step on the foot bar is pushes the previous core up the hollow tine. If the core in the hollow tine gets stuck, it will just make a hole in the lawn, which is when the clearing tool helps. The collection bin makes it easier to collect the cores to place in a bucket to place somewhere that needs extra soil or place in the compost pile. A quick poke with the clearing tool and a blast with a hose and it should be ready for the next session. The tool is made of very sturdy, powder-coated steel and feels like it will last many years.

Haven't had a chance to use it but it seems sturdy enough. Easy enough to put together. The welding is probably not my favorite but other than that it seems like it will get the job I need done done. Now I will say I definitely would not recommend this for a big area or a whole yard. I am using this for small sections here and there to help out my grass this season.

For those of us who love to get busy in our yards when the weather gets nicer and who don’t mind a good workout, let’s aerate our lawn! I bought this unit because this tool has a tray that catches the plugs. Shipping was fast, the package was compact, and it arrived with parts/schematic information and written instructions (albeit not very detailed). Assembly was easy, and all parts seem to be sturdy and well made. For safety reasons, I appreciated the three safety caps over the sharp tines, even though one of them had a crack in it (but still useable). I always feel that you get a quality item, when tools are provided with the hardware, and they include an extra set of bolts, screws, etc. (how often has it happened to us when a screw has popped off during installation, and we could not find where it popped to?). Here everything and the extra was provided, and I also appreciated the silicone caps that were slipped over the nuts and bolts, so no sharp edges can get in the way of operation.I was off to a good start. Manually aerating your lawn is a very physical activity. It helps to pre-water your lawn (but don’t make it a soggy mess) and to give the water time to sink in for about 10 minutes before aerating. This unit operates as follows: You insert the sharp, hollow tines into the ground, you step on the bar to drive the earth plugs into the hollow tines. You pull the unit out and repeat above process. During the subsequent insertions, the plugs from the previous insertion are forced out and into the tray. Works very well and keeps the plugs from littering the lawn. The handle bar is sturdy and cushioned with foam pads which makes operation easier on the hands. This operation was a success!
