I have to say I was hesitant because of the price but as soon as I got my first one and used it, I hopped on my phone and bought a second. They’re rather large but they fit in the trunk of my car just fine. They’re extremely sturdy and easy to plant in the sand (which I can attest is not so easy with PVC or thin circular metal rod holders). They’re a great purchase that you won’t regret. I have no fear of any fish or shark ripping one of these rod holders out of the ground, unless you’re fishing for giant sharks but even then just let the drag loose and you’re golden.

As with a lot of us, I bought a few inexpensive makes / models of sand spikes. And they would work, sometimes, but when they fail with a sizable fish is on the other end of the line, and the cheap spikes pull out of the sand, after all the effort you put into the trip/bait/gear/time, why waist your time with the cheap spikes?!?This sand spike is worth the money. Wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t last the rest of my life and then some (I’m 38). Solid construction. Holds the big rods in place, and foot/step to help set the spike is great. Go ahead and spend the money, you will be happy you did.

I really like these spikes and have received a a lot envious compliments about them from other fisherman. I love the product except a few minor things. For one, they are very expensive, but I do feel theyll last a lifetime and are well worth the money. Another issue is, i wish the part the you step on with your feet was a bit wider. When your feet slips off of it (especially barefoot) it really hurts. I also wish it was a little easier to transport (they're so big), I have a hard time getting it stable in my cart. Last thing is, I wish the hole that holds the rod, was a little wider, it's very difficult to quickly get your rod of the spike rod holder when you have a bite, without tearing off the rubber on the end of my rod handle. But, trying many different spikes in the past, if you're willing to spend a bit more for the best, this is definitely something I would recommend.

While I'm not an expert on surf fishing by any means, it does not take a genius to see very quickly that this is one outstanding piece of hardware.It's strong as and ox and light as a feather. My sons and I took ours to the beach for the first time this weekend. I planned on using it myself, but my son soon claimed it for himself.There are several things that impressed me.#1- the strength. Made out of aluminum, it won't rust yet it's incredibly light. Furthermore, it's incredibly strong. Once it's set, I doubt that there would be a surf fish that's going to pull it out of the ground. Almost like a pogo stick, there are two footholds on each side for you to press down. I weigh about 170, and I stood on both sides (full weight on the welds) trying to push it the last few inches through some hard shells. No problem.#2- Functionality. Being tall, this spike gives you plenty of height to help get your line above the surf. There is a plastic cap around the top, which helps reduce the wear and tear on your reel. There is also a small notch to help hold the reel in place. I did catch a couple of fish, but in my excitement I forgot to use on other addition- the measuring tape that is on the side. I'll remember that next time!I cannot think of anything that I am not happy with on this purchase except for the fact that I only bought one. Since my son, claimed this one, I'll be buying one more to add to my gear.
