ReviewsByMuseI have these gloves in my cat recovery kit. By that I mean when we trap lost or feral cats these gloves protect me from claws and full on cat bites. They can still poke through a little bit but no more deep punctures. It's more the claws that we worry about. They smell a bit weird. Have not tried to wash them yet. Hands may get a little colored if handling wet things.

We rescue injured animals and this has helped immensely. Looks and works as advertised. Definitely for small animals. I haven't used this with birds but could see these being pinched easily.

Very thick and great for if your dealing with and animal that might bite... they had a weird smell though when they first arrived.

Didn't have a chance to test them against animal teeth, but they work nicely for handling and transplanting thorny cacti. Dinged one star because they have an unpleasant odor right out of the wrapper.

I did a Trap, Neuter, Release with a band of cats and ended up with two adoption fails with kittens. They've remained mainly feral. That led to some serious scratches and bites early on. I learned that I needed a good pair of handling gloves. These are quite thick which is both good and bad. They certainly protect well, but it makes handling the animal difficult at time because you can't quite get a grip on a wriggling cat. I really wanted it for cutting toenails, and the gloves aren't terribly helpful with that because I need better dexterity. Overall though, they are good protection for handling in acute situations.

I wasn't sure if these would fit me since they don't have a size chart or measurements in the listing. The left one fits me fine, but the right one did not fit properly because I have a lipoma on my forearm that makes it slightly larger in circumference (13 in). My other family members are able to wear them, though.These have a very strong and unpleasant odor, likely due to their being made from actual leather and sealed for packaging, which doesn't allow the odor to dissipate. It was really bad when I opened the package, to the point of my having to repackage them until they could be taken to the garage to be aired out.They do the job, nice for dealing with kitties with sharp claws who don't like to be picked up for their flea treatment spots. My parents are elderly and heal a bit slower now, so this can help protect them when caring for their furry companions. They will also be great for tackling thorny vines and rosebushes in the garden during the spring cleanup time.Overall, they are a good product and are as described in the listing. It would benefit others to have measurements featured in the listing as well as letting the product air out prior to packaging for shipping. I would still recommend these and am fairly happy with the purchase.

I bought these because we have 5 cats, all have their claws, and not all of them are tolerant when getting their paw-dicures or if they have oral medication to take. Sometimes we have to watch out for a swat or a bite. Cat bites are unpleasant, and could lead to infection. When I saw these gloves I wanted give them a try as they seemed thick enough to protect the skin from a cat bite or some rogue razor sharp claws.When these gloves arrived, I was super excited to try them out. So I opened the package and the odor was very overwhelming. I am sure it was the color dye that was so odoriferous, but it was very strong. There was no way possible to use these until I aired them out.So I put them outside on the driveway for a day earlier in the week, and it definitely helped, but they still needed more time in the sun. I put them out there for a second day, and now the smell is bearable to deal with. I will be looking for other ways to get the odor reduced, but for now these gloves will be ok to use for what I bought them for.As far as the gloves go, we used them when trimming some claws and honestly, none of the cats made any attempts to bite or swat this time, but, it is comforting to know that our arms, from the elbow to the fingertips, are protected. Man do these smell BAD out of the bag, but they are GREAT for trimming my parrot's beak. He lets me trim his wings just fine, he even lets me cut his toenails with only mild complaints, but he HATES getting his beak done, and I suffer for it. We also just got a new kitten so I figure I could use these to trim her claws if she ends up being fussy. Well, I've only tried these for my bird's beak so far, but man does it help! He was gnawing away at my hand, but all he got ahold of was glove, not finger. The gloves are nice and thick - so thick, in fact, that they're a bit difficult to use right out of the bag, since the stiffness of the leather really drags down your dexterity. The more you flex and move your fingers the more it helps, and I'm sure with some time it will soften up to the point of being easier to use.Aside from that, these gloves are awesome, and they're definitely a win for me. Despite the smell and stiffness, I still want to give them five stars for the protection and the fun fashion color! I love that these gloves are so long to protect your whole forearm, not just your hand and wrist. It's not a huge concern for my little bird, but I imagine for feisty cats that extra length of protection would come in handy. So, as long as you know they start out smelly and stiff, I think these gloves are a great deal and would certainly recommend!
