Form:The wood is sturdy and sanded smooth. There's no finish on the wood, like a light coating of oil or lacquer to help preserve it. It's plywood (multiple layers of wood glued together) not to be confused with particle board (wood chips glued together. The velcro is extremely strong and secure. The black rubber you see in the pictures is thin and textured so don't expect it to be padding. It does a good job of giving my foot purchase.Fit:I'm a size 12.5 Mens USA. My foot fits fine on the device.Function:The included instructions give zero suggestion on how to set this up. You can intuit it from the pictures by how the device is rocking side to side, but there are no pictures of the underside to show placement, or words to describe it. But that's why you have me, the tester. There are two modes I see: Rocking the fore foot side to side on a fulcrum while the heel section is stable, and rocking the heel side to side on a fulcrum while the fore foot is stable.Heel:I stabalized the fore foot section with the long and one short section parrallel to each other like in the main product image here. After a minute I didn't feel a workout from rocking my heel side to side. Maybe that's user error, or I'm strong there already or I didn't use it long enough.Fore Foot: My favoriteI locked the heel section with the two short pieces, and used the long piece lengthwise down the middle of the fore foot section. I start rocking my fore foot side to side and immediately can tell this is where I'm weak and my calve muscles were feeling a workout. You can lean more weight onto the ball off your foot to increase the difficulty, or lean back a little to lighten it up.Note:The velcro is so secure you may need my trick to get the pieces off when you want to switch their positions. Instead of pulling the pieces off the boards, ROLL the pieces off.

I'm recovering from a break with numerous fractures in my leg and ankle. I had high hopes for this device to aid in regaining flexibility without putting to much stress on my early healing.First of all the set up and recommended placement for the bar placement under the foot plate do not exist. There is nothing included that has suggestions of placement and how those positions will benefit flexibiliity. The material is good and my foot feels stable while on it but the lack of directions limit the function. It would be a better value with basic information.

Although it seems like a simple training tool, I've really loved having this for balance work and ankle stability. This balance board has been a fantastic addition to my exercise routine. After a sprained ankle, I needed something to help rebuild strength and stability — this did the trick! The non-slip surface is secure and comfortable to stand on, even barefoot, and the wobble motion is just right for engaging all the little stabilizer muscles. It’s also great for improving my connection to the ground (particularly for athletic movements) and balance in general. I’ve started using it for short sessions while watching TV or brushing my teeth, and I can already feel a difference in my core and foot strength.Highly recommend for anyone recovering from an injury, dealing with plantar fasciitis, or just wanting better balance and stability. Well-made, sturdy, and very effective!

Ankle Balance Board & Foot Strengthener – Stability Exercises Trainer for Sprained Ankle Recovery, Physical Therapy & Posture Correction – Non-Slip Wobble Board for Balance Training & Plantar Fasciitis ReliefThis single foot balance board is lightweight, portable, and provides some degrees of range. It comes with a storage bag to keep everything together. The velcro is strong, the protective grip on the balance bar keeps it stable on hardwood, tile, low pile carpet. Hard surfaces provide a bit more range. The range seems well suited for working fairly stiff joints. I have a limited range of motion following surgery on my right foot and ankle last year. I can feel the stretch at the very ends of the tilt for both the ankle and foot.I also use the long bar diagionally in order to engage my big toe more on my recovering foot. It's not as smooth of a movement as a round platform with a semi-sphere as the balancing point but it does seem to work.I really like this for an off balance toe touch for my left leg. (I'm still working on balancing on my recovering foot on a stable surface, so it just adds a bit of challenge for the other side. Hopefully, I'll be using it for both sides soon enough.)This ankle exerciser probably works well for an average foot size. I wear a size 6W (although my actual foot size is a bit smaller) so the distance between the front of my heel and the ball of my foot is short enough that both sections dip due to the length of the rope connecting them and the location of the velcro for attaching the balance bars. I've just moved the balance bars closer to the edge to shorten the distance. (I could probably move them further if I wanted to focus on my midfoot but I haven't tried.)I think it could benefit from adding another short balance bar to the set so that you can just mobilize your ankle without having the longer bar stick out from the sides. Also, a center marking would be helpful for aligning the balance bars straight across both sections. (This might be a me problem.)All in all, it does what it says it does and a bit more. It's compact and lightweight, easy enough to pop into a carry-on or medical device bag if you travel with one. It feels sturdy enough to last.
