It looks like a good nvr. The problem I had was even though my cameras was listed as compatible with this hikvision nvr none of the motion and other features would work. The seller was very easy to work with and did help me get the video to work. I would of kept the nvr as I do believe it is better than the one I have but I dont want to replace the 16 cameras that are installed.

Takes a bit of getting used to, like all the HikVision products, but the more I fool with it, the more I'm getting to be comfortable with it. I have 12 IP cameras, all Hikvision (well, one is an off brand, but it was manufactured by HikVision and acts just like all the others), and after fiddling with them for years I have always found them to be finicky and frequently counter-intuitive. So after I couldn't get the motion detection set to pick up a small herd of deer running through my yard (I swear I'm not making this up!) and upload still shots to my on-site FTP server, I finally decided to get the NVR and just record EVERY-darn thing and be done with it. It seemed to pick up cars going by without too much trouble, just didn't like deer for some reason. Cats, possums, coons -- no problem; just deer. Very strange. Haven't seen the deer again yet, but I suspect the NVR will solve the problem with continuous recording.. Still figuring out iVMS with the NVR. I'm not using the POE function just now as the NVR seems to want to NAT whatever is connected directly to it, but I already had a POE switch so it's not a big deal in my case. The NATing was a small problem with two of my cameras which share a single cable with a downline two-port POE switch and the NVR would only assign one address on that port. Might try the POE ports later with some of the other cameras... or not. The remote seems more or less useless. I think iVMS is going to have to be the way I access the NVR because I need to keep it secured in my data closet. OK, just caught a single deer running through, and the NVR did indeed catch it. Deer was flat-out booking, too. Maybe that's why FTP motion detection couldn't catch them -- they are always on the run, but when a herd of eight or so runs through, you would think...
