Trap works well. Caught three feral cats and ring tail racoon. Was having issues with hooking door open managed to adjust by bending just a smidgen and it works good. Asked for return to Amazon due to door hook and they quickly responded by sending replacement. Thanks to my error of not taking time to adjust hook, I will have another great trap, rightly at my expense.

Works - caught possum first night used. But lost wire "stick" that holds the trap door open and closes door to trap animal. so don't let your attention drift in happiness at catching the vermin. that you lose the integral trap "stick".

Been having a problem with groundhogs this year. My cairn terrier has killed 2 and he got slightly wounded fighting 2 others. I absolutely hate groundhogs. After the last incident my vet put my dog on quarantine because of the latest groundhog encounter. So I decided to start playing hardball. Bought this trap and over the past 1.5 months I’ve caught 6 groundhogs. Baited the trap with watermelon slices which really works great. Been letting the groundhogs go free in a county park about 5 miles away. Really glad this trap came with the long heavy welders gloves when handling the trap because I worry about getting bitten by their long, strong teeth. The only negative thing I have to say about this trap is that the instructions are nebulous. The good news is someone created a YouTube video showing how to assemble the trap.

To start, I referenced two videos demonstrating how to set up the trap. I tried to trap two strays in my neighborhood to get them fixed. One of them was friendly enough for me to pick her up and put her in the trap without having to trip it. In the 2 minutes she was in there she pulled the metal opening back and escaped. For the other more feral cat, I tried the traditional way which would mean having him trip the trap for it to close. He went in and out of it 3 times stepping on the trip without setting it off, and right after the 3rd time the trap closed on its own without any animal inside of it. I tried one last time to trap him and finally he tripped the trap and was trapped inside of it. Just like the first cat, he fought and pulled the metal back and escaped. The gloves were useful and I have no complaint about them. I would have returned the trap but unfortunately someone in the house threw out the original packaging.

I've used a variety of traps from different companies and while this isn't the worst trap I've ever seen it's got some flaws.A large or long necked cat can reach the bait at the back of the trap without setting it off. This is not the only trap I've ever seen this happen with but it's annoyingly frustrating all the same. I've had to set it up as a manually activated drop and wait for one animal that was consistently robbing food out of the trap without setting it off. Once I did that it worked fine but it's much better to set it and walk away and come back to a full trap rather than missing bait.Construction is not the sturdiest. I'd advise you pick something stronger if you want to catch racoons. It works OK for cats and possums though. I did end up having to permanently seal the back door of the trap which is a bummer because it makes baiting a lot harder. It's also annoying that the arm to operate the drop is INSIDE the cage and a frustrated animal trapped inside can knock it loose. The gloves that came with it are decent enough and will keep you from getting scratched but be warned that cats and racoons can bite through almost any leather glove if they want to.For the money it's good enough but I wish I could have bought something a little nicer.

My little one had been missing for nearly a month. She's not an outdoor cat and we live by an ungodly busy road, so my concerns for her safety were at their peak. I tried everything in the book to find her and coax her back to the house with no luck until I decided to purchase this cat trap. It took me 15 seconds to pop it up and about 2 or 3 minutes to figure out how to set the trap up with no problem. I KID YOU NOT when I tell you after baiting it with wet cat-food (my cat's weakness) I caught her within 3 hours! It only took 3 hours vs. the entire month I tried catching her without it! Keep in mind if your cat is missing, they typically stay fairly close to the home, scavenging for food where ever they can find it or from people who assume its a stray and feed it. Put personal items outside by the trap, like a pillow, the cats favorite toys and a blanket. Put their favorite food in the trap and set the trap on a flat and stable surface. This trap will catch most cats of any size. Any cat over 10 or 11 pounds might be pushing it, but still possible.. maybe. My cat is medium in size at about 7 or 8 lbs with still plenty of room. The photo taken was when I carried the trap into my room and set it on my bed. I talked to her, got her calmed down and then let her out. You can see the wet cat food made a bit of a mess on my bed, but that was a small price to pay for having her back. I probably should have put it on a small dish. So, in short..GET THIS TRAP!
