The lock did not come with the same style key as shown in the picture ( which is the shape of the original key). It came with a round key, but still fit the in the steering column and works ok, so I'm not too worried about it.

Had to replace my ignition switch on my 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara due to a shady mechanic who not only lost my original key but jimmied the key lock while using it for over 200 miles. This was a perfect OEM replacement and now I have a secure ignition key where the original one is not in the hands of thieves. Peace of mind. I had to replace the 3 door locks as well but that has nothing to do with this ignition key switch. Can't beat $15 compared to the Jeep dealer price of $158!!!

After someone broke into my car and busted my ignition I didn't know what I was going to do when the dealership told me it was going to be $500+ to get it fixed. I've repaired a number of things around the house and thought I'd give it a try and it was so easy!!! The only thing people need to know is that they will need to also by a coded key in order to get most vehicles to start as it is an additional anti-theft system put in place. I bought a key from Ace Hardware where coding the key was included for around $75. It was worth trying to fix it myself... saved me about $400!

Got this lock cylinder for a 2003 Grand Caravan. The advice from other reviews to make sure the plug (at the opposite end of the key) moves freely did not suffice for me. The plug slid back and forth freely but the door still dinged when the key was out.The fix- I compared the depth of the new cylinder’s plug with the plug depth from the original cylinder. Turns out this one doesn’t go down far enough. Easy fix. I used pliers and pulled out the plug, trimmed a couple millimeters off (outward facing side) and reinstalled. Now it works exactly as it should. Hope that helps someone.
