I wanted to do my own mini split installations after getting taken to the cleaners by an HVAC tech/electrician who charged me $1000 a day IN LABOR to take 2 days to install one unit. After watching what he did and learning most manufacturers pre-charge their units, I decided to purchase the tools and do-it-yourself kit from a reputable brand, not Mr. Cool. I had initially purchased a car A/C kit that included manifold gauges, a *4.5CFM* vacuum pump, refrigerant hoses, and adapters. Fortunately I had tried a trial vacuum run with multiple hoses and connections. It wouldn't pull under 2500 microns. I got a new brand name pump and ordered this hose. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. The new pump which is 3CFM is more than twice the size of the kit supplied pump, I assume the kit supplier messed up the decimal place and should have been 0.45CFM (sarcasm). This hose is almost 3 times the diameter, has far superior quality connectors, and even comes with a plastic end bit that you can screw the connectors on to keep debris from entering the hose when not in use. If you're serious about HVAC and want good quality tools, Appion, Hilmor, and Yellow Jacket are really the only decent options. Don't waste your money like I did and get junk that just has to be replaced with good equipment before even getting started.

Wow, Nice hose for vacuum, I really like the aluminum threaded end protector that comes with the Appion hoses, It makes it easy to store on the handle of my pump as a kit. First test was with an also new VP67 Fieldpiece vacuum pump to pull down a new recovery tank, 3.5 minutes to 350 microns was incredible. Great tools make everything easier.

I was able to get down to 120 microns using this hose. The 3/8 hose really does speed things up a great deal from 1/4”.

This hose worked well for evacuation of my new 3 ton split system. I am happy with my purchase. I am semi-retired and usually only work on my own equipment. I was first trained on HVAC systems in 1977 when employed by AT&T Long Lines.
