I spent 2-3 hours installing and re-installing this part for my '05 Outback, only to finally take it to the mechanic assuming my incompetence was what kept making the blades lock up after an inch or two of movement. The mechanic measured it, found it wasn't to spec, and drilled a couple of new holes to move the motor out of the way of the arm action. So, if you're handy and get a good deal on it, might be worth it. Otherwise, look elsewhere

Similar problem as described by Huw Powell, it doesn't fit on my car, Outback 2005 2.5iThe holes for the motor assembly are offset.I also tried to order a new motor to fit with this part but it doesn't help either. The problem is on the linkage assemblyI'm giving 2 stars because of the good support and communication I received from the vendor, but the part itself is not good due to the manufacturer.Few weeks ago I had exact same problem with a part ordered from Ebay, so it is not specific to this vendor. Finally I drilled two holes to reposition the motor assembly but I don't know if it will last. Time will tellIf you don't want trouble, I strongly suggest OEM parts for this one.

The attachment for the motor in the driver's end casting is approximately 1-1/4" too close to the driver's end. That makes it so when installed - on the old or a new transmission/linkage, it cannot be attached to the pitman arm. It's over an inch too far away from it. It also puts the mounting hole/bushing that is part of the motor casting over an inch away from where it is supposed to be.The question is... am I going to try to modify this, with some new drilled holes? How do I figure out if another one on offer is correct, or wrong like this one? Can I get one delivered tomorrow? The car is in pieces, of course, with no windshield wipers, and a snowstorm due in 72 hours. So I had to spend 2-3 hours to cut the center pipe shorter, measure and precisely drill three new holes, and use the driver's end casting from the old transmission/linkage to finish this repair. I "made it work."Not the outcome I was intending.Do not buy this part.
